Speaker Placement - When it's perfect!
It took about 13 months for my main system. I went through the gear merri-go-round for almost a year. My speakers have always been dialed in rather quickly thanks to a little math, manufacturer practices, and not so common sense.Based on the pics ...
Disappointed w/ Klipsch Heresy III. Now what?
@biscorbit,The Harbeths are approximately twice the price of Heresys. It's funny how we all hear things differently. While I liked some aspects of the C7s, I much prefer the Heresy IIIs, despite their limitations.
Amplifier that visually matches Thorens TD-160
Not from the same period, but I think it matches the Thorens look. https://www.stereophile.com/content/cayin-sp-10a-integrated-amplifierThey make a few other models with wood chassis elements as well.
Do I have to spend $4000 plus to get a better sounding speaker than GET model 7 ?
This thread seems like deja vu. I've heard $400 pairs of stand mount speakers that are superior to the Triton 7s...just my honest assessment. The Revel Concerta2 F36 are in another league all together, and they are Revel's entry level tower. They ...
A better lamp cord for my stereo equipment?
^ Not to mention, changing the original cord won’t improve performance unless it’s corroded or defective in some way. If your goal is the placebo effect, you can get one of those quantum, tychyon manipulating, unobtanium pronged noise supressors t...
Speakers are the first piece of the puzzle
Speakers alter the sound more than any other component, maybe, unless we’re including analog sources. This should not be surprising, because the speakers must convert the electrical signals to sound waves through mechanical means. Thus, they disto...
Brimar vs Mullard cv4003/12AU7
Call Andy at Vintage Tube Services and ask his opinion on the Brimars.
hooking up subwoofer to 2 channel tube amp
Keep in mind that some subs, including RELs, use the Neutrik Speakon connector for speaker-level inputs. Thus, you can't just use basic speaker wire. Other brands, such as Rythmik and KEF use regular 5-way binding posts. IMO, the KEF Q-series, sea...
hooking up subwoofer to 2 channel tube amp
Call Crutchfield, they'll be able to explain it all.
New Yggdrasil - First (and second) Impressions

E-BAY and SHIPPING ARE GETTING OUT OF CONTROL
That's the seller inflating the shipping, not eBay.
hooking up subwoofer to 2 channel tube amp
You need a subwoofer with speaker-level inputs. Then you simply run wires from your amp's binding posts to the sub's binding posts. This is actually a superior method of integrating a subwoofer vs the LFE sub outputs found on AVRs. Just a few bran...
Sanity check on new system?
I haven't heard the 803s, but from everything I've read, it seems they perform best with high power. My KT88 Cayin amp was modeled after the MC275 and has similar power. I don't think I'd want to pair it with B&W 803s, but if you already own t...
Benefits of an external DAC
I don't think it's the age of your ears. My ears are 33 years old and I believe my $8K system, not including DAC, is reasonably revealing.
Downsizing Speakers in Main Listening Room - Your Feedback on Some options
Helomech - thanks for the advice - I have seen several of the sealed cabinets in the bookshelf size but not in a floor stander. Any recommendations for either size ? Also not familiar with the "transmission line" style cabinet - can you recommend ...
