Budget DAC for Oppo VS. Orig. Rega Planet
For $180 shipped the Valab NOS dac is a strong contender. I own some much more expensive cdp, but this is a musical budget dac that I could live with. There is a review here on audiogon and lots of discussion on Head-Fi as well.
Tel wire vs Lessloos
I prefer the TelWire to the LessLoss, the above observation by Shreod is really good. So is the insightful review by David. The somewhat lean characteristics of TelWire seem aggrevated with components that draws higher current, but Chris of TelWir...
Power Cord shootout: Acrolink, LessLoss, & TelWire
Thank you for the insightful comparison. I completely agree with your characterisation of LessLoss versus TelWire, saved that I feel the microdetails of the LessLoss is only at par with, but not better than similar priced cords. Your observation t...
Musical Fidelity's USB Ready V DAC
Dtc,Being a MF Trivista owner I am aware of that review by Michael Fremer, but I don’t see his opinion necessarily contradict with my own. Mike have every right to rave that the Trivista is richer, warmer and have greater resolution than the Nuvis...
Musical Fidelity's USB Ready V DAC
Mapman,The Trivista SACD player is the MF product I had, but I also noticed the bleached tonality and PRaT issue with a few other MF products that crossed my path. I couldn't put in more eloquantly than Art Dudley in his Stereophile review of anot...
Musical Fidelity's USB Ready V DAC
Apparant from the users comment in Head-Fi, this DAC has improved on the bleached tonality of other MF products, but have some real PRaT issue. This is the link:http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f7/musical-fidelity-v-dac-owners-391721/
Musical Fidelity's USB Ready V DAC
I also look forward to trying the V DAC and V CAN, as I can get it cheap ($180 and $130, respectively). That said, having past experience of MF products I don't have too high of expectation. Some in Head-fi is already selling his V CAN after a mon...
Mytek Digital Stereo 96 DAC, anyone ?
Thanks for the input.Ferenc, what do I gain by going from Mytek 96 DAC to 192 DAC ?
Budget USB DAC
Hi ScrammanDid you happen to try the headphone output of the Thingee. I am trying to decide between the Thingee and Headroom Total Bithead as portables. The Bithead has an internal DAC as soundcard and is said to be capable of driving some load.
? Modded Oppo 983 ?
There is a review of the modded Oppo here in audiogon. I owned the Reference Audio Mod Oppo 980 (full mod verison) and made my comment therein. Feel free to email me if it could be of help.
LessLoss DFPC versus LessLoss BTB
LessLoss certainly has generated quite some nice review coverage with its promotional measures, but I just came across some reviews wherein apparently well-versed Gon' members actually prefer the Tel-Wire over the LessLoss. I shall look into the V...
LessLoss DFPC versus LessLoss BTB
Dlcockrum,Thanks for the suggestion. In fact, I more than welcome alternative suggestions. The Lessloss is a great buy at the introductory discount offer of $250, but at the upcoming price point of $750 there are more options. I also vaguely remem...
Stello HP 100 Headphone amp
BTW, some might refer to the head-fi.com forum, but I already searched and found little info there on the Stello HP 100.
Review: Oppo Ram 981 CD Player
Thanks for the great review.I have the RAM modded Oppo 980, full mod version with cryo treatment. Although they are different platforms for mod, your review essentially capture what I heard with this player as well. I could only hope for more tona...
Audio Grade Fuse, Anyone?
I should also mention that, I am not sure if the reason that the Infinity Power has not been introduced to the US market has anything to do with meeting the safety standards. As I remember it, the packaging of these fuses does not accompany specif...
