| Low volume (loudness) listening Nice system mate. I would add a schiit lokius to adjust levels. And since you have wooden floors add some type of isolation footers for your sub and perhaps to your SF's. I use the SVS Soundpath feet for subs and they work a treat. Good luck | |
| Noob! Please help me replace my old power amp, some candidates listed. Welcome to Agon. | |
| Another tube preamp "What should I buy" question. Congratulations! Happy for you mate. | |
| Pondering REL and Dynaudio subwoofers. Wow, You have a lot more experience with Velodyne than I do. It sounds like I should have gotten the plus models. I didn't know they made subs as far back as the late 60's. I pretty much grew up in radio stations and recording studios as a kid. It... | |
| Pondering REL and Dynaudio subwoofers. I had an HGS10 and 12 as well as DD12 and DD15. I did the sub crawl method beck then. I couldn't get good results with either of the DD's on board processor. | |
| Pondering REL and Dynaudio subwoofers. I will vote for the Dyn sub. I have an 18S, not the sub 6, paired to C4’s. They are mechanically identical - the firmware is different and they do not have grills. I went with the 18S because I got it new on a holiday offer of £1k and the sub 6 wa... | |
| Another tube preamp "What should I buy" question. @emergingsoul That made me laugh - thanks! Get a puppy indeed. I went from Krell to Primaluna in the last few years and am mostly happy with it. I chose the Primaluna over the ARC due to the massive PITA tax (Pain In The ASS) if a valve blows w... | |
| New Preamp or go Integrated Ok - a few things. (am very familiar with Dynaudio Products) 1. If your Dyn's are new they will sound dreadful for quite a while - they will start to open up at about 200 hours and at around 500ish will be a different animal. You will stay with t... | |
| Is bi amping worth it ? OP - I do not have experience bi-amping as I have had a long path with Dynaudio speakers. There is one avenue that has been touched on here that I can offer some input. As others have stated, adding 2 subwoofers can do a lot of good, and I will... | |
| Is bi amping worth it ? @erik_squires and @russbotton (as well as OP) Thank you for your informative input. I have learned a lot from you this morning. This was a nice read. Unusual in the 'blast' climate we seem to be in. You both contribute positively to our comm... | |
| Help - is Krell dead? @jji666 - Thank you for the clarification. I used my Denon DVD player as my CD Player and was told I shouldn’t bring it to the UK. I didn’t realize they meant the zone was just for movies - although I have a ton of concert discs. I feel really s... | |
| Help - is Krell dead? Oops - Cleeds. Sorry - Apple spell checked me | |
| Help - is Krell dead? Creeds is correct! I brought absolutely nothing to the UK with a motor. The motor will die. Amps and Pre-amps ar fine - you will have to get a new CDP -As well as the CD standard is different in the EU than it is in the states- I just don’t remem... | |
| Help - is Krell dead? I used George Meyer AV in Los Angeles to modify my Krell gear to UK standard. Quick turnaround, although it is across the country for you. They are Krell factory Authorized repair center. Also, you are spot on not wanting to use a (Step-Up) trans... | |
| anybody compare Dynaudio Special 40's/Heritage Specials/Confidence 20's? All of the Dyn’s require a quality high current amp to open them up. As far as the question, it seems like you prefer a ‘V’-curve sound. The 40’s have a (flavor) of a V-curve. All of the higher end, eg Contour and up, do not have the same crossov... |
