Seeking recommendations for DAC to amplifier balanced XLR cable
Budget: around $500. Currently using Colorado RCA, but was hoping that balanced cabling can beat that Colorado. Sommer Epilogue doesn't. I look for detail, transparency, space. On some musical pieces, eg. electronic music, very sharply defined sou...
Seeking recommendations for DAC to amplifier balanced XLR cable
@gdnrbob I have Mackenzies RCA. Good, but I slightly preferred Colorado RCA. Considering Mackenzie XLR though, as I don't want to pay a lot for that balanced interconnect
Seeking recommendations for DAC to amplifier balanced XLR cable
@david_ten Perhaps not a fair comparison indeed. I don't quite believe in cable break-in, but I am going to give this newcomer a chance. I was just trying to listen to it but I had to switch it over to Colorado, the lack of clarity was so annoying...
Guttenberg's Cornwall IV Review -- I'm in trouble
@bigjohn9095 You have a TON of power in that amp for these speakers! You can help out with demolition jobs :-)What speaker cable to you run?Pls play James Blake's "Limit to your love" (yesterday’s discovery), just not too loud at first.
Guttenberg's Cornwall IV Review -- I'm in trouble
I listened to SG's review and I have to agree with his every word. Very engaging, "direct live experience"/foot tapping type of sound. But at the same time not very 3D in the sense of depth, more "forward."The only thing that blocks me is the huge...
Guttenberg's Cornwall IV Review -- I'm in trouble
@jbhiller I regret to inform you that I have heard the Cornwalls IV and I can’t get them out of my mind. This probably means that I have made the subconscious decision to buy them, I just don’t know it yet. Let’s call credit card companies about i...
[help] I'm too Boomer to stream. :-(
Can't complain about Node 2i's software. In addition to streaming, I connect a WD external disk full of my ripped FLAC disks directly with USB.
Moving up from a Node 2i
Just received the updated RME ADI-2 DAC from B&H, connected with Mogami 2964 coaxial to Node 2i's output and the sound improvement is quite substantial! Not to mention all the controls that I still have to learn. The same AQ Colorado cables tak...
What is "break in" and what difference does it make? In amps? Preamps? Speakers? More?
I am always wondering if anyone ever made the following test: take two identical units of cable, subject one to the alleged burn-in, then do blind testing on both attempting to tell the difference.
Thoughts/Advice on replacing a 20 year old system
Not to crazy about MQA. Switched to Qobuz HiRes. I am still using Node 2i; it sports a good DAC. MF M6si is my new, and great, integrated amp. Considering upgrade of the DAC to RME ADI-2 DAC -- I am not even sure it will be that much better. It is...

MQA and classical music
I would like to stress the fact that I heard the lossy nature of MQA only when critically comparing a modern classical recording involving the piano, an instrument particularly sensitive to reproduction imperfections. When listening to rock or ele...
Are "streamers" the new "transports"?
I would use Bluesound Node 2i (or Vault if you need CD ripper + storage). Excellent BluOS software will make a difference. Then stream to your DAC of choice...
Cable septic
I can only say I wasted some 25 years by not believing that cables make a significant difference :-( I have physics and electronics background and I thought that with rather small lengths, acoustic frequencies, and smallish voltage/current, all no...
Any Spendor D9 owners out there?
Auditioned today, trying to upgrade from my KEF 104/2 and I was not impressed by their bass at all. Klipsch sounded quite impressive in contrast.
