Have you treated your listening space?
Roxy54,Most any room can benefit from bass traps, particularly in the corners. In addition, broad band absorption (which usually needs to be at least 4 inches thick) is also helpful in most rooms. One of the goals is to have frequency balance in t...
GIK, Rives, Real Traps
My experience with GIK has been great. Great customer service and reasonable prices. I sent them pictures of my room, and their suggestions have been spot on. They were also very patient with all of my questions. The GIK room treatments have made ...
Room Treatments for Maggies
Dsper,Listen to Maplegrovemusic. Unlike a couple of posters on this thread who lack first-hand experience in their own room with treatments (Elizabeth and Rrog, correct me if I am wrong about that, but you previously have acknowledged that with yo...
Vincent vs. Odyssey vs.? Power amp advice
Pduff,I briefly had a Nova hooked up to my Magnepans, and it did not sound bad at all. I ended up getting a Peachtree iDecco (as preamp and DAC) and Emotiva UPA-2 for not much more than the Nova. I noticed a significant improvement with the Emotiv...

Diffusers for magnepan speakers
Hotmailjbc,When you say you have roomtunes in the corners of the room, are you referring to the Michael Green corner tunes -- that is, the triangle "pillows" that go in corners? If so, what is your experience with them as far as how much of an impr...
Diffusers for magnepan speakers
For building a skyline diffusor, you may want to check out gearslutz.com and go to the studio building and acoustics forum and the sub-forum for bass traps, acoustic panels, etc. There is alot of DIY info about all types of acoustical treatment, i...
Most effective Room Treatment for slap echo, etc
I have had very good results with GIK Acoustic products, which are reasonably priced. They also have great customer service. The GIK products have made a HUGE improvement in the sound of my system.I thought about the DIY route, but it is hard to b...
Peachtree Decco 2 setup...
There are a couple of buttons on the back of the Decco that toggle in and out -- one that is for jitter (narrow versus wide) and I believe the other is some type of filter slope. In my experience, setting the jitter button on the back to narrow sou...
What can I do to upgrade my system? Thanks
The best $400 I have spent for a noticable gain in sound quality was acoustic room treatments. Specifically, the 244 broadband absorption panels from GIK Acoustics. Other companies make similar products, I just happen to have had a very good exper...
Optical to RCA converter
Thanks, Bob and Arni. The toslink optical switch might be an inexpensive solution, assuming it does not noticeably degrade the sound. I will not be able to switch from the remote, but overall maybe a good solution.
Optical to RCA converter
Theo, I did hook the toslink from the tv to the iDecco and it sounds great. Tom, I do not have a surround sound processor. I am wondering if the DAC in my older Panasonic tv was just alot better than the DAC in this Gefen converter. In my old setu...
Wyred 4 Sound DAC1 or DAC2?
Devilboy,I am curious how you would compare the Minerva to the Nova. I realize that you said the Minerva obviously beats the Nova (which is what I would have expected), but I am interested in how much of a difference there really is -- fairly subt...
New Apple TV -- Anyone planning on it?
Just to clarify, my music is in Apple Lossless. I have about 80GB of music (and gradually loading more) and so it all fits on the 160GB hard drive. (FYI, ATV Flash is a program/hack that allows you to add an external hard drive to the Apple TV if ...
New Apple TV -- Anyone planning on it?
I have the 160GB Apple TV going into a Peachtree iDecco and love it. One of the concerns I have about the new Apple TV is the lack of a hard drive. When I first set it up, I synced a large library and immediately started listening. What I first he...
