What's everybody listening to this evening?
Chopin nocturnes by Artur Rubinstein and Shostakovich's Sixth symphony by Leonard Bernstein. It doesn't get much better than that!
Barber's Adagio for Strings
The Greatest version I have heard is the old Toscanini version. He was able wring all the emotion out of it while keeping the pacing. If mono bothers you Bernstein with NYPO is good choice. There is also the Schippers version. But the Toscanini is...
How long have you had the SAME GEAR?
Let's see when did I change my underwear? Only kiding in the last 11 years I have had 8 pairs of speakers, 10 amps, 8 pre-amps, 4 turntables, 20 catridges and about three sets of interconnects and speakerwires. Now I am married and all that is at ...
favorite TCHAIKOVSKY Piano Concerto No.1
Argerich has recorded that piece twice a live recording with Kondrashin conducting absolutely the most stunning recording of that work I've heard. The other time was with Dutoit conducting, excellent recording but not in the same league as the Kon...
Opinions on old B&W's
I owned a pair of 802 series 80 for 10 years. I always loved those speakers! I miss them and wish I had never got rid of them. For $500 I think you would be silly not to buy. Just make sure your amp is a good match. I used tubes (Sonic Frontiers) ...
Rethink Explosion Oriented Home Theater 9-11-01
I have always loved music. I came to love great movies. There are very few of them. I guess it's all taste, but I love a movie with a plot. I think Hollywood has sold us short on plot and acting. BUT music has given us the Beatles, Beethoven, Mile...

Dr Harvey "Gizmo" Rosenberg Died
I just read the posting on the website for Harvey Rosenberg and I am saddened by the loss of one our great minds. I never met him but did see him at a Philadelphia audio society meeting. His "light" will be missed. He made a fun hobby enlightening...
Best Budget Bookshelf Speakers?
What about the wonderful Spica TC60's. These things throw a soundstage the size of Baltimore. Timbre is near perfect and they are not hard to drive. I mate mine with a sub and while they will not play at head banger levels. They are a wonderfully ...
Rate the Audiophile Publications
I like Listener and Hi-Fi Choice the best I think they have fun and I think they are not as pompous as HP from abso!ute sound. I like writers who can hear other sides to the way other may hear them and different equipment can be used with that pie...
The "Broken Blue Point Special Club"
Oh I got you all beat by a big margin, A Big Margin, beat by big margin! I have trashed three times a Benz Reference, once after a day of owning it, and twice since then! You would think I would move to digital. No F###### Way!!!!!! I have since h...
LP playback is lacking - any ideas?
Where do you have the table set up? Is it near the speakers? You could be getting muddy sound because the table is to close to the speakers, don't forget that your VPI has no real isolation. The Glider is also a pretty laid back cartridge but it no...
The Beatles
Hi I agree with Rosebud. If we can't keep it civil perhaps audiogon should delete messages that are nor to the point. If you don't like the Beatles fine, but lets keep it civil and to the point. The Beatles were in my mind the greatest their gener...
