Drill holes in rack shelf to keep amp cool?
I'm certainly no master of hifi, but after looking at the pictures, I'd be more concerned about where your speakers are located than how much heat your amp is putting off.I would slide those book shelves towards each other so they meet up with the...
what do you use to remove your tubes?
Wow!! I didn't know this question could be as debatable as cryogenically treated tubes, bi-wire, and putting your CD's in the freezer. We'll have to ask A'gon to add a 'Myth's' section on the forum.
upsampling CDP's for $1500? Big difference?
It sounds like I might just sit still with what I have until the next upgrade bug strikes. Most of the music I won on CD has been originally recorded and produced in the past twenty years or less, so it sounds pretty good. Most of the stuff older ...
upsampling CDP's for $1500? Big difference?
Great info. Thank you. It's nice that the Raysonic gives you the option to switch back and fourth. I was actually reading about them earlier. That looks like a very nice player indeed.
Has anyone tried Full Music 12ax7's?
What difference have you noticed?
what do you use to remove your tubes?
All very good points. I like cruz123's point about using your hands and wiping them off if you don't like the finger prints. Maybe a Dyson Animal vac?
Will upgrading my amp for el34s to kt90s help?
I agree on the Magnum. I have the Rogue Cronus Magnum as of about one month ago. I'm actually having the opposite problem you're having. I have a little too much bass. Prior to this I had Rotel separates and I had almost NO bass. The difference th...
Amp candidates for ATC Loudspeakers
Noli. You should alos postr this question on whathifi. There's tons of people in the U.K. using (and loving) ATC speakers.
Headphone break in?
Thanks Hifitime. I read some ineresting info on head-fi that indicated it was recently proven that speakers do break in. I'm with you that you might as well be listening while you're doing it.
Would you return your CDP.....
Hifitime. I should have quite a lot more time on the warranty. It's a Rotel RCD-1520 purchased new in July. It sounds great but I'm not totally convinced I like the slot loader.Audiofeil. It's not tubed so I will take your advice and leave it on. ...
Words From the Wise
1. Learn how to listen to music. If you haven't all ready, stop cranking tunes and listen to the music. May seem simple but it's not. It takes practice. Sit down for it.2. Don't be afraid to buy used.3. Explore music. If you only listen to one gen...
Upgrading from NAD 320 BEE?
I went from NAD C317 integrated (80 watts) to a Rogue Cronus Magnum integrated. I actually had Rotel in between for about two months and it was so bright sounding I couldn't handle it. The only thing I miss about the SS NAD is the punchy tight bas...
Looking for suggestions...
There's still some new NAD C372bee's at some stores. I know of a store in Ithaca NY that's selling some new for cheap. For your budget, you could get the C375bee. You can find used at www.spearitsound.com ou tof Massachussetts.
Ia a good amp more important than a good DAC?
I believe that the source, amp and room are the biggest contributors of sound, which I have recently found out over the past year. If you want to hear this for yourself, go out and listen to some new Rotel electronics and then something tubed or e...
Vintage speakers 80s-90s.....
I think i still have a pair of Genesis speakers I bought in 1979. They were my very first speakers that weren't handed down from my brothers. Can remember what model. Now Genesis speakers cost a fortune.
