You pay for it and you get it...
I caution you; if you think that putting any given bookshelf with any given sub is going to get anywhere close to any given larger floor standing speaker, you are sadly mistaken. People who operate from specifications in such decisions are ignoran...
What do we hear when we change the direction of a wire?
No measuring will replace human perception , a tool, so accurate it is, work from some chosen parameter in ONE chosen dimension and cannot replace human experience....The one thing human perception is not, is accurate.

daveyf OP2,068 posts04-26-2021 12:15amThe room clearly has something to do with the ability of the speaker to portray scale, BUT I think even in the big room, a small speaker, like the Sabrina X that I referenced, cannot portray this.Volume, frequ...
The Absurdity of it All
These stores use the same old pitch that what they sell is the best, lol. I always love the ones that try to convince you that they or you can pick out the sonic character of a source or amp or preamp in their store, in their room, and not with yo...
Detecting “Dirty” Power
The old point the finger at the other guy problem eh!Carry the amp down to wherever your breaker box is. They usually have an outlet close by. Plug the amp in. Turn off all the other breakers. If the problem does not go away, odds are the unit has...
DIY Speakers
There are websites dedicated to DIY, even DIY speakers. This is not one of them.
Benefits of adding a 10MHz Master Clock to a digital system
If people want to use an external clock and live with the higher jitter and resultant loss of SNR, and THD, who are we to tell them otherwise?
Leaky capacitors need replacement?
atmasphere9,377 posts04-25-2021 2:15pmAre you saying to replace the electrolytics with new electrolytics or use something else? These are right off the AC mains between the IEC plug and the rest of the amp. These parts are being used in the DC Bloc...
Do you have ways to ease use of vinyl?
Borrow the best turntable setup you can get access to and digitize all your records with a high end A/D. Problem solved.
By far, my most significant system upgrade!
No offence, but if you like these cables, effectively you like your high frequencies rolled off, but please don't move the cables, because every time you do, you have a completely different set of cables. They may be the most poorly thought out sp...
Does a Tube Dac make sense?
My personal opinion having a DAC with only a tube based output is like having a preamplifier with the tone control set non-flat and no way to ever change it.  Tone controls are a great idea, and only stuffy audiophiles killed them, not because the...
What do we hear when we change the direction of a wire?
Is equivalent to saying that the conditions of experience are always the same for all users and for all time... And saying that tools could measure what "goes down a wire with great accuracy" but humans could not, to justify the impossibility or t...
What do we hear when we change the direction of a wire?
What djones51 said. We can measure what goes down a wire with great accuracy. Humans can't. Matters not what happens after. The electrical signal was either recreated properly or not.

I would reply with a snarky comment Miller, but i figure your foot already has enough holes in it.
Dedicated AC line - Contractor wants to use BX instead of romex
Look at page 16. Read pages 31 thru 36.https://centralindianaaes.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/indy-aes-2012-seminar-w-notes-v1-0.pdfI would argue many should read all of this ... about 15 times!  Maybe something will sink it. Worst case, they may g...
