Analog newbee looking for advice
Hey guys, thanks a lot for the advice. It sounds like there's no easy or cheap way into vinyl. Now I'm leaning toward Flyingred's recommendation and getting the Opus 21 and more CDs. I guess it can never be easy...
is creek5350se best integrated for 1000-1200 bucks
I'd also consider the Classe integrateds, or something like a McCormack .5 (~$650 used) and a tube pre.
For those of you with power problems....
That's hilarious!
Theta Miles vs Resolution Audio CD 50
I haven't heard the CD50, but replaced my balanced Miles with a CD55. The Theta has stronger more articulated bass, but the CD55 is better in most all other respects. The RA has a more open top end and more precise imaging, but the Theta really ha...
SPeakers 90% of your sound
I think the price range of the components in the system really dictates what's most important (for that system). If I had $50 speakers, I wouldn't be out shopping for room treatments. Assuming you had "good" electronics, upgrading those $50 speake...
Thoughts on Coda gear? Any Coda owners out there?
Another fan of CODA here. I used to own a 10.5, sold it here on Audiogon, and regret it. I really enjoyed that amp, and didn't appreciate it until it was gone. I think for used prices, that amp was better than any other that I've had in the same p...
Solid state amp ultimate stop...
With a workin' man's budget, the Clayton M100s do it for me.
Satellite Radio at Home
Yeah, I tried it too. I have the Sony car/home receiver. Sound quality is OK, also reminded me of MP3.
Thoughts on Paradigm Studio 60's?
You might want to try a different amp with those 60's. I used to have a pair of Studio 20's, and tried a C340 with them and I did not like the match.
spend more money on pre or power amp ?
In my experience, matching the amp to the speakers is critical. I would think that in the $10K range, personal preference will determine how much you spend on each. I'd spend as much as it takes to get an amp that works with your speakers, then ge...
Plinius class A vs. class AB sound difference?
I had an SA100 III and had the same question, so I listened blindly as a friend switched the amp from A to AB with several different types of music. For each song, he switched the amp back and forth, and I indicated which I preferred. For all test...
Need monitors with a BIG sound
These have both been mentioned, but I'll second the Red Rose R3 and Audio Physic Spark III. I own both and listen in a small room, and these both perform well with nearfield listening. Surprisingly, the R3's seem to have a bit more bass than the S...
WHat about four speakers.......
I agree with TWL. I think there is potential in multi-channel reproduction, but I have yet to hear it done "correctly".
What component have you changed out the most?
Power amps, then cables.
Latest Peter Gabriel
I've got it and like both the music and sound quality. Go get it!
