| Cat friendly or actually unfriendly speaker I'll assume you know your cat better than I do, but I thought I knew mine pretty well too until she made the 1m vertical leap from the floor to the top of the Spendor without a hitch. It was a fast and delicate exercise on her part. Not a scratch ... | |
| Interfacing Speakers & Stands I've used Herbies fat dots between the speaker and stand. They are very reasonably priced and come with a trial period. | |
| Cat friendly or actually unfriendly speaker Agree with Jaybo. They should be fine. Being front ported helps. There was a period of time my 7/1s were about 18" from the back wall and I would not have hesitated putting my 1/2e's that close if space dictated it. | |
| Cat friendly or actually unfriendly speaker If you really must upgrade the Spendor Classic Series are really nice. I've owned three pairs (3/1, 7/1, and 1/2e). In your price range the 1/2e's come up fairly often. You'll want to budget for the Sound Anchor stands though. Also, check these ou... | |
| Dedicated phono-pre for MM only? The two that come to mind for me are the K&K Audio kit and the original Hagerman Trumpet. | |
| Cat friendly or actually unfriendly speaker I caught my cat jumping up on my Spendor 1/2e speakers one day shortly after purchasing them. It was the first and last time she did it. Yes she is still alive (turned 16 today) and still has her claws. We came to a verbal understanding on that oc... | |
| TRL 595 Discussion Died Years Ago Dgarretson,I've always enjoyed reading your posts here and elsewhere and can appreciate your opinions on digital mods. IIRC you are fond of the transformer output stage that Kyle at RAM has developed with the Audio Consulting Silver Rock transform... | |
| TRL 595 Discussion Died Years Ago Lithojoe,I see your point. FWIW, the following is just a generalization of what I have come to see here of late on Audiogon. There seems to be a persona created among certain members that they are "the men" of Audiogon. How the persona was created... | |
| TRL 595 Discussion Died Years Ago Lithojoe,I actually thought Tvad's response here was very balanced compared to previous posts on TRL threads. This coming from someone who has flamed him in the past for what I felt were his unwelcome and unwarranted comments on TRL threads. The TR... | |

| advice on amp - $3,500 maximum budget I owned the Electrocompaniet AW-250 for a while and would have to echo Grannyring's comments on the sound. Warm yet with just enough detail and very deep bass. For solid state Electrocompaniet would be a good choice. | |
| Entry level tube amps? The RM-9 is a very good amp, but if you don't need that much power the Music Reference RM-10 at a very solid 35 watts could be a better choice. | |
| advice on amp - $3,500 maximum budget Any particular reason you started a new thread asking the same question you posted in another thread yesterday? | |
| Moscode 401 HR vs. 402 au vs. Butler TBD 2250 I don't know if it's a marketing gimmick or not, but as good as the 401HR is, the 401au is better IMO.I have heard the 401HR in comparison to the Butler 2250 and to me it's a toss up. They both are very nice amps. I think the Moscode has a slight ... | |
| advice on amp - $3,500 maximum budget I agree with Springbok10 and if I were you I'd consider the one for sale here direct from George Kaye. I'd even ask him for an in home trial on it, he may oblige:http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampstube&1248109824&/Moscode-401HR---t... |
