Odd length speaker cables
A few years ago I murdered a perfectly good extension cord looking for a good speaker cable. Needed 6 feet on one end and 12 feet on other. Tried other lengths (2 ft-15ft, 6ft-20ft etc) and found that any mis-match of length more than 20% was soni...
Power Cable for PSA Perfectwave MK2
Tekline the Reference works well, Analysis plus good but not quite the detail quality of Tekline. USB cable quality more important. Regards, Mike.
What Power Cord can improve clarity and bass slam?
Dayglow- Since your first post and my response, we have changed the breaker panel and added a dedicated 10awg romex to my temporary bedroom system with Wattgate gold receptacle. Current TelWire is using gold Wattgate ends on their Reference cable....
What Power Cord can improve clarity and bass slam?
Dayglow; I mentioned TelWire The Reference with a receiver I was using at the time, probably a dis-service to the TelWire guys. I had tried several diffferent cords and could get bass weight (not slam) with some and pretty good definition. Some wi...
lock or solder the speaker wire in the banana
Awhile back I removed the crimp on spades from my silver Pure Note Cerulean speaker cables and soldered on some bananas. The resulting sound was surprisingly awfull. I cut off the soldered and installed with crimp tool new bananas to good effect. ...
Adventures in power cords, TelWiire etc.
Follow up. An $800 power cord on an $800 receiver and no comments? Better amp on order now and I'll report back with assessment on it after breakin, Mike.
Any users of Teresonic Clarison speaker cables?
Greenink & Dgarretson; Thanx for speaker cable responses, your writing much better than mine. I guess I missed Teresonic room at Show, but the name sticks somehow. Went to site, looks like great design, prices not too bad for these days. Yes I...
Ouroboros, thy name is me.
I agree about the MSB/YG room. also, to be polite, many rooms had mis-matched cabling with no obvious attempt to get the 117VAC over to the equiptment in a logical fashion. I was/am looking for an OK 5 channel amp and of course peeked into the Emo...
Audio Room...prefab shed?
I had a 120 sq ft shed built a couple of years ago as that was the max size without a building permit, now max is 140 sq ft. Had heavier floor (3/4" plywood)cost about $3500. If permit needed then it might be better re-sale for real addition? Let ...
Idol fans weigh in
The effort I've put into my system just to get the audio reproduction "OK" on this program over cable is way out of balance with quality of music.
Why does better power = better sound?
Byron, I think of AC power as just DC power at any one moment in time. We all know that current reverses 60 times a second and has zero volts/current 120 times a second. Your amp, etc. is not at the end of the power chain but is actually at the ce...
Conference Room Audio
If I was stuck with this project, I could see how the choices were made. I'm OK with the MK speakers as I use then myself after auditioning several for my bedroom system.Probably a less expensive receiver, but still one that allowed for mic calibr...
CD Player? PC Music? Naaa Flash Memory Music.
Bom Dia, FernandoI too have discovered "computer audio".For me, a flash drive stuck into my Pioneer receiver is less resolving than direct from computer via PS PW1 DAC.I will admit a low noise floor this way, but just as goodnoise-wise direct from...
DIY HD Tracks from mint LPs?
I recall reading somewhere to put the turntable/cartridge output directly into the mic input on the computer, bypassing phono preamp completely. Add RIAA compensation later or whatever curve works besr for you. Takes special program? I have not tr...
The Hub: Viva Las Vegas!
Nice to run into you, Bill (almost literally) at THEshow. It does seem quite a shake-out of the smaller entrepenurs, I can only hope costs can be kept down at THEshow for some of us small guys and DIY'rs like myself to keep an even playing field. ...
