Cable Hook-up / Direction needed for Moron
Interestingly enough, Martin Dewulf at Bound For Sound has found that sometimes, directionality recommendations don't sound as good !His is the only commentary I've seen on this, but he said something that might sound great with recommended direct...
Lost in Speaker Cable Land - $350 Budget
Do yourself a favor, and send an email to Audiogon user Greggstraley. He has some modified Stan Warren design interconnects and speaker cables that are the truest of giant-killers I've ever heard.I have these in my system, and sometimes put in the...
any fans of early industrial?
Can ? Wow, haven't heard that one in a while. Yeah, maybe they could be labelled as the parents of Industrial. But I think a lot of the experimental Moog stuff from the 60's, and even the old weird sound effects experimentalists going back to the ...
Which headphone amplifier with balanced input?
Wmcmanus: hope you're enjoying your XP-7's. And thanks for the pointer on Mikhail. Just a couple notes:It's raysamuelsaudio.com, Emmeline is the "major" model name (?). I LOVE mine, and I'm even past the honeymoon stage.I also picked up the Perrau...

Einstruzende Neubauten is excellent, even now. For people interested, go to www.neubauten.org, their web site. Some neat stuff there. And they also did a special recording for "supporters," those who donated some $$ (all of $35 Paypal for me).Than...
Which headphone amplifier with balanced input?
2 agreements: head-fi.org (also check out headwize.com), and the XP-7 from www.raysamuelsaudio.comI got it. It is superb ! Balanced, organic (NEVER thought I'd use that term) sound, detail galore, even some good in-skull soundstaging !OK, single-e...
Gordon Lightfoot Tribute
Gordon Lightfoot is one of the few early "outof synch" records I had in my collection. Back several years, when ALL I was listening to was alternative and punk, I still had "Gord's Gold" volumes 1 & 2 in my LP collection.I'm sorry to hear he i...
Cable elevators
They CAN make a difference. I heard a diff at an acquaintance's house, he simply used thin string to suspend the cables a few inches off the floor (tied to ceiling tile frames). Definite higher decibel output (measured), some perceived clarity of ...
Myrtle Wood
Thanks, TWL. Your clarification on obtaining "rare" materials made me feel a lot better. Sorry to jump to conclusions, but the average person wouldn't know better. This is something Cardas might consider clearing up in their marketing material.....
Myrtle Wood
Kchahoc, I agree 1000000% !!!!!I'm VERY surprised Cardas would do this, they seem a company, and George a person, who would normally be very conscious of the environment in general (this is only based on what I've read about him, not first hand kn...
Bought, Sold, Rebought,Sold Bought again.
I understand both of the Cody's re-purchases. Both those pieces were great overachivers, and relatively inexpensive. If & when I re-purchase, it will be one of 3 things: a Pathos Twin Towers, a 47 Lab's Gaincard, or an Onkyo T-9090 Mk II tuner ...
Best Isolation Device for Speakers?
I am using Audio Resolution platforms under my VMPS speakers. They are similar to Symposium. They actually drain vibrations away from the cabinet, from the floor, AND from the cabinet itself.I noticed a BIG difference in bass up to the lower mids ...
Killer two-way
I echo the Totem recommendation, but it's best to also match them to your center channel at least. Surrounds not as big a deal to match tonally, but it helps.
Where do tubes come from?
Dang, Tok20000, y'beat me to the punchline of "mama and papa tubes" :-)
Tekna Sonic Vibration Absorbers Opinions
I found them effective, even on a cheap pair of Radio Shack LX-8 speakers. The cabinet sucked, but the drivers were an OK 8" bass/mid, and the top mounted Linnaeum design dipole.MUSH in the middle, boomy bass.I put the Tekna-Sonic's on, and heard a...
