Jeff Rowland Preamps
Thanks for the input Marty. Looking at your systems page, you certainly have experience with some VERY expensive and well-thought of components, so it is high praise that the Capri 2 holds it's own in that company. I was going to wait till the RMA...
Jeff Rowland Preamps
Hi Marty, interesting that you mentioned the treble region of the new Capri 2. I am also interested in this preamp but hesitant as reviews generally conclude that Rowland treble is a bit reticent rather than wide open (my Model 112 exhibits this t...
Chord QuteHD DAC Review
Tboooe, look here for the Mains Cables R US unit designed for this DAC: http://www.mains-cables-r-us.co.uk/power-supplies/514-chord-qutehd-linear-power-supply.html
CD transport recommendations
Anyone with first hand experience with the newish Bel Canto CD3T transport? Very few reviews, but what there is is all good.
Any impressions of CHORD or Mytek DACs?
Mesch, my Mains Cables R Us unit (specifically designed for the Chord QuteHD dac) was $500 including shipping from the UK to US. I upgraded a few things such as fuses and silver cabling......the basic unit is a bit over 3 hundred US dollars or so,...
Any impressions of CHORD or Mytek DACs?
Received the MCRUs power supply and have been comparing the Chord with and without for the past week. When this linear PS is in play, there is definitely more `there' there. That is, depending on the recording, it is that much more gorgeous, down-...
Breakout DAC for 2013?
To add to Bill and Wtf's comments, the Chord QuteHD is excellent. For me, it is the first time that I can actually relax when listening to digital, not worrying about what is missing and/or bothering me about what should, after all, be a fulfillin...

Interesting, Old Marantz, I just ordered the MCRUs PS as well. The 2 box/2 regulation stage design sounds intriguing, at least on paper.....we shall see what we shall see.
Any impressions of CHORD or Mytek DACs?
Wtf, thanks for the update here.....I've actually been following your input on the CA thread as well. Sort of hoped against hope that an upgraded ps would not bring much in the way of audible improvements, but what the hey, it's only money. Thanks...

Excellent Wtf, will be very interested to hear how it works out. The Chord, to me, is so good already that further improvements would be a wondrous thing, even considering the extra cost.
Any impressions of CHORD or Mytek DACs?
I've had the Chord in my system for a 30-day demo from Acoustic Sounds. It is a keeper, delivering a nice full sound with great detail. Of course, I too wonder what a more robust PSU would bring to this dac, if anything. I did just email Dusty Vaw...
First favorite tune
My babysitter had one of those big console record players, and when she put on the 45 of El Paso sung by Marty Robbins I was hooked. Asked her to play it over and over till she finally made me go outside and play. The only other 45 I can remember ...
Rowland Model 112 or Simaudio Moon W5
I've had the Rowland for a decade, and often joke that it took half-a-decade to break in. Discovered that it requires a few simple tweaks to unleash it's potential; replace the footers with something more robust (in my case carbon graphite `TuneBl...
Former MHDT Havana Lovers: What did you move onto?
Eugene, can you tell me who the US dealer is for the Calyx? Maybe I missed it but after several failed google searches as well as failed email attempts to Calyx, I think it's time to admit defeat and just ask. Thanks...!
Your First Concert was.....
Technically it was Canned Heat playing at my high school dance, SoCal 1968. First paid concert was Vanilla Fudge opening for the Bee Gees, same year. Interesting combination, to say the least.
