| Hobbies other than Audiophiliac? Boating, water skiing, snow skiing, and guitar playing (which is as much about sound quality of the gear as it is about playing ability . . . for me at least) | |
| Manu Katche I (very) recently picked up "Playground" and really like it. I'll have to spin it a few more times before I put it in the "incredible" range though. It's definitely worth having in the collection though if you like mellow jazz especially. | |
| Tube phono preamp help please. I agree with the Jolida JD9a. I bought mine from the ebay seller below - it was shipped to me directly from Jolida. I haven't tried the Pro-ject, but did have the Bellari (don't recommend it), and other phono stages. I'm very happy with my Jolida.... | |

| TUBE HELP with 5AR4 Rectifier Swapping rectifier tubes will often affect the sound of your amp as much as outputs or drivers/phase splitters. this has been my experience too.. | |
| EVA CASSIDY I'm a little late to this discussion but find Eva to be somewhat incomparable - her voice may not be more remarkable than many mentioned here, but I think it's the combination of style, humility, recording/arrangements and voice that sets her apar... | |
| TUBE HELP with 5AR4 Rectifier NOS Amperex/Bugleboy are excellent too. | |
| $300 used preamp to match my rotel? I posted in your other pro-logic thread but a Rotel RC-1070 is nice and in your budget. Also - I'd look at the B&K preamps (eg pt3). | |
| pro logic unit instead of 2 channel preamp? I find some of the old pre-pros can serve as excellent 2 channel preamps - and the prices normally are much lower than what you may have to spend - especially for a remote controllable linestage preamp. There are many available for <$300 - some... | |
| really inexpensive power cords TLE - if you really want to spend more $ on one of those brands - feel free. My input was based on your statement of it being a second system, and not wanting to spend a lot. If you had given a $ amount you want to spend maybe you'd receive other ... | |
| really inexpensive power cords These volex power cord are a big improvement over stock cords (especially cheap stock cords) for minimal cost. Otherwise I agree with Driver. | |
| How LONG have you been an AUDIOGONER'? geeze . . . I'm still a newbie. Nov. 2004, but that's long enough to watch many changes, including who the "old timers" are. Sadly, 'gon is missing some of the authorities, as well as some of the "Audio Comediologists" who posted regularly a few y... | |
| AQ PT-9 vs. Rb250-300 What did you you like about it regarding the sound differences? I didn't notice a material difference in sound - both are pretty neutral. The Rega arm is harder to set up (VTA is a royal pain unless you spring for the VTAF), harder to adjust (hard... | |
| AQ PT-9 vs. Rb250-300 I had both a PT6 and a RB300. I preferred the PT6 in every way. Although the RB300 has more upgrade options which I think is why it's more popular. I think the PT9 is a newer spec, and imagine maybe an improvement over the PT6. | |
| Optimum TT Height I'm 6' tall and have 2 TT rigs. 1 is at 48" platter height, the other is at 55". Both are very comfortable. I've had them on lower stands (mid-belly height or lower) and it's awful. |
