Bonham’s Squeaky Drum Pedal
The reason for this post was to see how many people hear the squeak and to see if the quality of a system has an effect on whether you can hear it or not. With my NAD C 388 amp and KLH Kendall speakers I do not remember it being there. Now with my...
Bonham’s Squeaky Drum Pedal
I asked this question because I was curious to see if the quality of different systems allows it to be heard  or not heard.
Bonham’s Squeaky Drum Pedal
@lowrider57 The microphone stand falls at 3:46 in the song.
Bonham’s Squeaky Drum Pedal
@lowrider57 I listened to several Zeppelin tracks last night and there are a lot of quirky little things going on. Pronounced amp buzz is one. I like it when they leave things in that happened in the studio. Like when Ronnie Van Zant exclaims "My ...
Audiogon resolutions for 2022 - #1 less exaggeration when it comes to system changes
I really like this idea. I’ve made some changes on here based on information gleaned from this site. Some good, some, meh. Cables, I’ve borrowed some very expensive cables from friends, $10,000+ per channel and I’ve sent them back unimpressed. My $...
DISCUSSION: "It only comes out at night". Does anyone else have this experience!?
My system always sounds better when there is a blanket of snow at night. Pure magic.
Listening to music I don’t particularly like
I bought and listened to Madonna’s Immaculate Collection because I wanted to hear another Qsound recording.
Tyler Acoustics Highland H3.5 or Focal Aria 936
@ blkwrxwgn I have been working with Ty for a few weeks now. I feel like you do, I am having problems deciding to pull the trigger. I have asked for a customer or two to call and see what their impressions of the sound is and then maybe if possib...
Tyler Acoustics Highland H3.5 or Focal Aria 936
@alexopth1512 My 936s do a really great job of duplicating the sound of acoustic guitars but there seems to be something missing when it comes to vocals. There is some detail missing there that causes me to not believe the singer is in the room. S...
Tyler Acoustics Highland H3.5 or Focal Aria 936
@alexopth1512I love my 936s, but I feel sometimes that I want a little sharper imaging and depth to the sound stage and just a smidge more bass.
My battle with sibilance.
I have a song that does this to me. Don’t Come Around Here No More. When Stevie Nicks says don’t it’s a very clicky sounding D. I can hear it on other systems, but mine seems to accentuate it. It’s hard to ignore.
Fear of volume control
I have found that listening at 80-85 dB is where I get everything from most recordings. I have a slip of paper in each of my albums that indicates what level on my amp makes the recording sound the best. Some are at 48 on my Hegel H390 and some ar...
When Everything Comes Together
@nonoise The pursuit of those Zen experiences is fun, actually having them is exhilarating!
When Everything Comes Together
@ shtinkydog I've had sessions like this happen at 1:00 in the morning or 2:00 in the afternoon. When it all comes together it is special. I have also had sessions that I have ended after a few songs because it just wasn't happening.
