Aurender is finally Roon Ready?!
@mapman When you use the Conductor app the data stream flows thru the Aurender proprietary processing of the data stream that includes a large SSD cache where the final music files are stored for playback (around 250gb). This is similar to playing...
I see the issue with ABX blind testing
I think @botrytis is mixing up spirit competition where a panel of judges is used to taste and score a product with what takes place in a distillery, where only one person, a master distiller , is responsible for taste and consistency of the final...
Aurender is finally Roon Ready?!
It’s exactly what I thought it would be. I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised. It isn’t difficult to hear at all that the Room is inferior to Aurender processing. It took me all of 10 seconds of a well known track to know. Roon is a nice to hav...
Aurender is finally Roon Ready?!
Doing it now as I type!  System update in progress.

Cool. Glad to be of help. Btw preamp is built into most DACs nowadays.   MSB, Mola, Bricasti, Chord (above qutest), Playback Designs, PS Audio, T+A, DCS, Weiss. Some do it better than others. Berkeley doesn’t have volume control and they don’t hav...
Back to the DAC
@navyachts you might not need network card but on a used dac it isn’t much if a price difference. Remote is an excellent option. Preamp is included no matter what. It’s an excellent preamp with properly implemented volume control that is defeated ...

@tvad upgrade to 21 or 1S2 for $2500 if it has MDX?
Back to the DAC
You won’t regret it. Leaves some funds for some nice USB and power cables.

Agreed with @tvad 100% mentioned earlier in my responses as well…competition is fierce on USAM with M3 now. Score one under $3500 all in. You can spend the rest of your dough later if M3 tires you out. Get one with remote if you can. Excellent DAC...
Audio Research Pre-Amp advice
Find a used LS28SE here or on US Audio Mart. Buy from a reputable seller and you should be fine. I wouldn’t bother with any of the older preamps mentioned here if you have $6,000 to spend.

That’s high for M1SE @navyachts   wait for a used one. Since you mentioned II it kind of threw me off into thinking it was M1S2.
Back to the DAC
@navyachts if you can swing the Bricasti, do it. It will be a good synergy and a solid DAC. What is LAIV? Looks like the next best shiny thing on YouTube…I don’t believe the hype sorry
Benchmark Media Systems. Right or wrong
In any case this was a snake oil debate…we went off on a tangent.
Benchmark Media Systems. Right or wrong
Guys - neutral is not a thing. Everything adds color. Including your room and the chair you sit in. Your big furry dog and a coffee table between you and the speakers will alter the delivery enough to render it inaccurate. You can keep telling yo...
Benchmark Media Systems. Right or wrong
@mijostyn I don’t like distortion. I am also 100% sure you have no idea what the musicians in the studio sounded like to use as your baseline for judging how accurate or neutral a component really is. It’s all a perception. So let’s not go there.
