Can I place outdoor screen over air vents on top of my amplifier vs. dust/hair entering?
Thanks! I don’t believe the screen has increased the operating temperature of my Gamut D200i.Just thought it might help as we do get a good amount of dust, etc circulating here in FL, despite religious AC filter changes every 2 months. I realize s...
Audio Lessons Learned - post your best advice for the newer members!
My humble advice would be to find gear that pleases you musically, emotionally, and financially and then stay with these manufacturers throughout your audiophile career, if possible. Upgrade to later iterations only after a convincing audition. Wi...
Paralleled Transistors
Thanks again for the helpful information! I guess paralleling transistors is the more favorable approach when intermediate and high power is desired. Brands like Gamut and Gato are the exceptions, using one pair of large N- Mosfets per channel.Thi...
Paralleled Transistors
Very interesting and informative posts .....thank you to all. I recently auditioned a Danish Gato amplifier which uses one pair of large N Channel Mosfets per channel.(200/400/700 wpc) The sound was very pleasing, with a natural tonality, similar ...
Bridging an amplifier
Thank you, George!  I thought the Clayton S2000, a dedicated bridged balanced design, sounded too good to be characterized as an inferior topology. Just stay away from switching  stereo amplifiers into bridged mode. Got it.
Bridging an amplifier
I only recently viewed the additional contributions to this thread I started 19 months ago. I appreciate the additional input. From what I gather, audio2design, dedicated bridged amplifiers can be every bit as good or better than non bridged paral...
suggestion for a SS class AB amp that sounds like a class A ... if such a thing exists
Consider GamuT D200 series amplifiers, all iterations have excellent tonality (‘class A like’), are detailed and very musical. 200/400/700 WPC mates with most all loudspeakers.
Seriously? Why Buy ARC Ref 6SE? seems Benchmark LA4 is a better choice.
I believe audiophiles should purchase whatever preamplifier, if any, sounds best to them in their system, and within their budget. We all value different musical attributes and presentations...fortunately there is an abundance of choices in audio ...
Final Retirement Amplifier-Class A-Upcoming Gryphon Essence Stereo vs Accuphase A75
Hi eagle3333:I’m delighted you are so happy with your new Essence amplification!  Apparently my concern about power (my KEF Reference 3’s really like power) is unwarranted.  Now I’ll have to decide between the Essence Stereo and Accuphase A-70 or ...
Final Retirement Amplifier-Class A-Upcoming Gryphon Essence Stereo vs Accuphase A75
Hi eagle3333: I’m sure you will be favorably impressed with the Gryphon pair. I liked my Diablo 300 as well, with lots of authority and headroom, although it could get just a wee bit strident at higher volumes.(IMHO). My only concern with the Gryp...
Final Retirement Amplifier-Class A-Upcoming Gryphon Essence Stereo vs Accuphase A75
Thank you eagle3333.  Look forward to your impressions on the Essence pair and enjoy!
Final Retirement Amplifier-Class A-Upcoming Gryphon Essence Stereo vs Accuphase A75
With this terrible pandemic everything is slowing down. Just curious if anyone has had the opportunity to audition or own the Gryphon Essence. Your opinions are most appreciated.
Luxman CL-1000 Line/Phono Preamplifier
The review was strongly favorable but did point out that the phono stage is quite good but perhaps not at the level of the line stage. Also the tone controls were said to detract from the preamplifier’s transparency. The author didn’t site the lac...

Luxman CL-1000 Line/Phono Preamplifier
I’m told the USA version of the CL-1000 has a ‘throw in’ solid state phono board. Japanese and European markets only have the line stage only option. I’m wondering if a vinyl aficionado would be better off with the integrated phono stage in the lo...
