QuickSilver GOLD
Has anybody compared the QS Gold to Walkers' Extreme SST? If so, results?
Itching for an SACD player
You won't go wrong with a Modwright 9000ES (w/ Bon Mods) or a Modwright 999ES, in that order. Great players for the $$. The 999ES easily bettered an AA Prima DAC mkII when I had both in my system concurrently.
Which High-End preamps have these 2 features?
The Modwright SWL 9.0SE without a doubt....
Modwright SWL 9.0SE Pre ... your thoughts welcome

Elrod Power Cords
Jfz, type in DCCA here at Audiogon, and you will find all sorts of good stuff. Also do the same search in the classifieds and you will find DCCA's lisitings, and you will be able to send Don of DCCA an email.
Modwright SWL 9.0SE Pre ... your thoughts welcome
I leave it off. I usually turn all my gear on an hour or two prior to listening. It's fine after a couple of hours of warmup.
Importance of wall behind listener?
"1markr, I should have made it more clear that I do use diffusion behind my listening position, only on the ceiling. I use a combination of skylines and doublebusters spread from just behind 1st reflection point on ceiling to behind listening post...

Thanks guys...SNS, do you have any pics that you can email me? I'm interested to see what it looks like (WAF!). And thanks for the tip on the QRD 734, Albert. I will look into it.I should also add that I have a 55" RP TV between the speakers, a fo...
Modwright SWL 9.0SE Pre ... your thoughts welcome
Sure Grant, you asked for tubes that are tonally warmer than the T-Sols, so here they are, imho, of course. I have the T-Sol 5687s, and they are very good tubes, but they are bit too edgy and SS-like for my tastes, and I always find myself rolling...
Modwright SWL 9.0SE Pre ... your thoughts welcome
Hey Grant, this could be it's own thread. Anyways, I'm using Sylvania Gold Brand 5687s right now, and GE JAN 7044s work very well too. I already have 7044s on my Modwright 9000es, and found that the 7044s on both was WAY too much of a good thing.
The song you just cant stop playing???
"Imagine" - Eva Cassidy. Could listen to it all day long.
Power Cord for my McCormack DNA-500
I used a DCCA power cable with my DNA-500 when I had it, and it was a great match. Don of DCCA has some cables listed now that he's selling as demos, so ping him to see what you can get in your price range. The Extreme REF worked very well, being ...
First Sound Preamp Owner's - What NOS tubes?????
When I owned a FS preamp, I really liked the Philips SQ E188CC tubes. Very well balanced tubes.
Thoughts on Egglestonworks Andra II
Audioblazer...I agree with Bob above. It takes a lot of power to drive the Andras happily, to their fullest capabilities. 24 watts may drive the tops if you bi-amp, but there's no way the SET amp will drive and control the bass drivers. BTW, the A...
Playing CDRs on a Sony SCD-777ES
If your 777es is anything like my 9000es (I would venture to guess "yes"), then I may have a solution for you. I also thought that my 9000es would not play CD-Rs based on the research that I've done on the threads here and elsewhere. It turns out (...
