cd/dvd repair ot trash

I am the unfortunate audiophile who keeps experiencing equipment failures.Specifically;A Meridian 800 with HDMI output, cannot read the cd /dvd ,although the unit was repaired by the factory for that precise problem under warranty in the last few month.Yesterday my Esoteric DV-60 failed to read the cds.I purchased that unit new from an authorized dealer, but that was a few years ago. My question is it worth the cost and trouble repairing
ramy
Don't repair it. Laptop->DAC is where to be, and where the innovation is occurring. Version 19 of jRiver can decode bit-perfect rips into memory and provide an excellent source stream into a DAC. Then you just choose the DAC you love, and swap out when a better DAC comes along.
It is just not cost effective to repair, especially given that the technology and cost of new units is constantly improving. Think about it being an opportunity to advance you enjoyment. Think Oppo, great products, great values.
I would send it back to Meridian.
I don't dust cd's -I use a liquid spray cleaner and proper cloth, just as for treated glasses. When it won't read the disc it could be a motor problem-not that expensive to repair. If you don't want to spend money on it perhaps you can talk to me about it. Six oh four, three to nine, for three five seven, all good children go to heaven ; )

Just to be clear, are we talking about fixing the Meridian or the Esoteric? The 800, I believe, is about $20,000 and upgradable. Even if its not wanted, it can be fixed and sold. If it sells at a low price, you should still be able to buy several Oppo's.
Thanks for all the responses.I do have the OPPO 105,however I prefer for sound quality the Meridian 800 and even the Esoteric I find superior in audio.I use HDMI from all these sources including the Meridian.Meridian repaired the 800 but over 6 month. As for cleaning the cds/dvd I do clean them once in a while, however in the last 6 month I used the Meridian no more than a dozen times, for my use the meridian is more important as I use it in combination with 862V6 and the audio quality is very good for red book cds.
