Any info on these old Grado G1, G2 series carts?

I have a gold metal body Grado with Brown plastic, and Gold dots ( too bad I can't post a pic) Unit also has red logo "G L" printed on bottom. I also heard it might have been a Shibata tip? Grado folks said it looked like and old G1 or G2. Does anyone know about these? Might it be worth a new stylus ( gold prestige $100) or a new more modern cart altogether?
