“Civilian” reaction to your gear?

My wife is a first grade teacher.  She had a party at our house and invited all of her teacher friends and their husbands.  About 8 of us ended up downstairs in my man cave and everyone wanted to listen to my system.  I put on the Beatles Come Together and turned it up.  Everyone was amazed.  From there I had to take a bunch of request for music to stream.  But as far as I know, no one who was there looked into getting a stereo of their own.

The younger generations don't have the discretionary funds to be able to consider such frivolities simply because we created an economic climate that has them focused on day-to-day survival. The "Greatest Generation" and the "Boomers" feel there is no need to leave anything to their children, grandchildren or any subsequent generation. They feel they need to take their accomplishments and their wealth to the grave with them.

Many of my friends show an interest in my system, many will end up in the room listening. My wife's friends are a different story. When someone new comes over she starts the home tour in "my" room and then progresses to the walk of shame pointing out the 20 years of projects that she feels are 90-99% completed.

I can live with that.

Very relevant to the comment I was addressing. So much easier to pretend you don't have a clue!

When my son was young his friends ignored my system. They discovered Guitar Hero video game and they came in the door as I was cranking Barracuda by Heart and Jordan sat down next to me and listened the next 5 tunes. Guitar Hero saved classic rock for another generation.
