Custom Lenco L75 vs Technics 1200's

@romad , if your goal is to have a second TT go for it with the 1300G. If your goal is to get better sound go for the tonearm and power supply upgrade. I have done the tonearm and power supply upgrade with two turntables over the last 30 years and it paid off in spades. 50% to 75% improvement. With a Heybrook TT2 (upgraded to a Alphason HRS-1000 tonearm and Hecules PS) and more recently with a Linn LP12 (Arko Tonearm and Lingo 4 PS). Not the same turntables after the upgrade.

Another idea might be to approach Jean Nantais about upgrades you could do without shipping to him in Canada, which I agree would be a prohibitive pain in the butt, especially now with the added tariff.  (When I bought my Nantais Lenco, for some inexplicable reason it was shipped to someone in Ohio and left on that person’s doorstep, outside.  When this feaux pas was discovered, the TT had to be shipped not from Ohio to me in Maryland but back to Jean in Canada who then had to re-direct it to me.  That was upsetting, to say the least.) In the long run, why not do both? Buy a Technics AND add a motor controller (and new tonearm per the advice of others) to the Lenco.  As those become affordable.

I should mention again the Denon, which I consider the equal of my GAE.  I paid $2K for mine, that is 50% of the price of the 1300G, which is what I was looking at.  It is a really good TT.  Full stop.

Being somebody who has extensively travelled to be demoed audio equipment in systems produced by others and unfamiliar. 

I was demoted the ID TT Speed Controller that I class as the market leader as a prototype and at a later date the marketed model in a unowned system. As a result, I made my thoughts known about the good impression made and how I thought of it as the best experienced to date. I was loaned the demo model to take away to compare to other Speed Controllers, and my thoughts about the loaned Speed Controller did not change. I was without doubt it was the best I had heard. When used in two other unowned systems where speed controllers were in use, the loaned model created the same impression for a group of attendees. 

Move on to JVDDTT’s, my first introduction where an interest developed was at an unknown person’s home, where a Lenco Heaven Forum meeting was arranged and I was invited through a private contact. 

Excellent designed GL 75’s were present and all had their demo time.  Last to be demoted was a JVDDTT,  being a SP10 MkII. The rest is history, ID TT’s for my own purposes are Superseded in use for near 10 years. 

It is ludicrous to suggest a demo of a Audio Device in a assembly of unfamiliar audio devices is not able to create an impression that is recognisable for being attractive or unattractive.

Visitors to this forum, whether frequent or infrequent, please note. Demoes of Audio Equipment, generate learning, interaction, in some cases friendship, and in some cases friendship that can prove to be lifelong. I strongly suggest this is activity undertaken as part of an interest in audio, the experience is enriching. 

How Forum members choose to participate in their audio interests is not my concern, how experiences are sought by forum members  that can prove enriching is solely their concern. Not much, if anything is able to be influenced by me. I just carry on with task of sweeping my side of the street. Especially where displaying a Contempt Prior to Investigation as an attitude

It looks like the time is now nearer to hang up the gloves once more.
