Vinyl is my absolute standard and I disconnected my bluray and had no way to play CDs on my main audio system for 10-15 years (only in car and on Bose wave radio while washing car in the garage),
After giving up on getting the smallish group of CDS I really liked on vinyl due to availability or ridiculous cost (Fagen - Morph the Cat for example) I saw a great close out deal on a Rotel player and grabbed it. It sounds better than I expected with some well produced CDs (and no pops or tics). And if I know I won't want to flip the record in 20 or 10 minutes, CD's are a good option, although I don't have that many of them and some do sound pretty crappy.
Not interested in streaming and dealing with computers to select my music. It would make me skip too many songs like I do when I listen to music (not very often) on my iPhone. Plus too many decisions....After amassing my vinyl library for nearly 50 years one by one, I know what I like and finding something worthy of being in my record rotation is difficult.
