Well cable took a while to settle in. I was worried at first. Plugging into amp and I was greeted with a nice amount of bass. And larger things than normal. But was kind of basic silver timbre with a bit of blandness. Definitely wasn’t warmed up but could tell it wasn’t the spot for the cable. Plugged into my dac. This is where I actually planned to use the cable and purchased for here. My hope was to add a little texture and tone. Wanted a little extra warmth in the bass. Well cabled wasn’t quite warmed up but was opening up. I gave it time. Imaging was all over the place and wasn’t nearly as detailed as I’d hoped
My best cable is a furutech project v1. I have used this in my amp exclusively. The effortlessness and quietness it brings to the table with humungous imaging is awesome. But I’ve found lately that I actually prefer it in my dac because it is so quiet and detailed. If you lose it here you’re never getting it back. Dacs and streamers are very sensitive between the clocks and conversions. You need silence here and the furutech shielding and dampening is the best I’ve encountered so far and gives incredible dynamic range allowing for greater insight
so I plugged the siltech into my wells audio commander pre. I knew immediately this was the spot for it. The cable opened up and all the resolution and solidity of imaging was there. A little soft due to not being a cryo cable but had all the lack of distortion and detail a cryo cable usually brings. Sometimes a silver cable this soft can be fuzzy around the edges but not here.
Cables with air dialectic tend to not have a black background the way cables that aren’t air do. I’m more of a fan of the black background but I also feel that air brings better texture and more natural timbres. When the siltech was in the amp I noticed what sounded like air instead of black background. Once the cable was behind a furutech, its air background no longer existed and became black the furutechs tend to do this and also mask timbral colors and make everything black not my favorite thing but the furutech offer so much in other areas that I just deal with it
what got me was that the siltech slightly allowed different timbres to come through the furutech but what it did do that I love about it was add thick ass texture. Like an oil painting instead of water painting.
the downside is I still find a blandness in the cable that kind of distracts from the overall musicality. I think maybe it’s their “kapton”. Almost like the sound of shrink tubing yet clear. Maybe because it’s an old cable the dialectic is drying out or the furutech plug isn’t NCF and I’m hearing more of the connector material.
either way, pretty sure it’s authentic based off its performance
