That is great, I am so glad that it has been a positive move. I went from a Furman to a Puritan to a PS Audio regenerator. None of these were jaw dropping upgrades, though I think I have pretty clean power to start. But what I have noticed over time is the quality of the sound is so consistent any time of day. Sunday night sound all the time.
Shunyata Venon V16 or Furman Elite 20pfi
Hi, All,
So I currently have a Furman Elite 20pfi with everything in my rig (system does double duty for music and HT) plugged into it. Including the Puron AC Power Conditioner (this thing absolutely lowered the noise floor when I plugged it into the Furman). I took advantage of the 40% off sale and bought the V16. Received it yesterday. However I see that the V16 does not offer surge protection whereas the Furman does. I did not realize this. I should mention I have my system on a dedicated 20Amp circuit and I also have a whole house surge protector. Is this a deal breaker, should I just return the Shunyata? I did read, almost unanimously, that the V16 will improve the sound and lower cross interference by isolating.
Thoughts? And should the V16 not offering surge protection be a deal breaker?
Thanks in advance...,

Congratulations. It's weird, but yes, when my Everest "settled in" for a day after shipping, it seemed as if there was a difference from when I first installed it. The Everest has a specific set of outlets for high power amps so I have my Pass Labs 250.8 plugged in through the Everest, as Shunyata advised, and very happy with that setup! Happy listening. |
@kingbr this is awesome! Thanks for the updates. Love to hear people's journeys. Maybe your amp is just really picky about source. Also the venom and especially the power cord may need more time before plugging the amp in makes sense. I noticed a pretty big improvement going to a Theta shunyata power cable on the power conditioner. My amplifiers, Primare A60 and Pass Labs XA30.8 love my Gemini and MPC 12c going straight in but I'm sure every amp is different and every power situation is different. Maybe try the amp again in a week or two as I'm curious if it ever sounds better. My Shunyata pcs have split sections though so maybe the venom isn't as good at cleaning digital noise. I actually plug my streamer into another circuit that's on the same phase rather than into my Shunyata. That seemed to clean up my signal further. If you have another outlet on the same phase and different circuit, may be worth a try! Congrats man! Keep us posted as the Venom and the cable burns in! Curious if it gets even better for you |
