Thanks @dayglow, I’ve been wondering where you were on that and admire you for sticking with it. I tried doing it during the Covid lockdown and finally got through it but only listened to side 1. I did ‘cull the herd’ though, sold or gave away about 150 records. I lack the discipline to return to it and play side 2 A-Z.

Mofi reproduced the original cover with the fold outs that includes a poster that I haven’t looked at yet and the outer sleeve was shrink wrapped instead of bagged. As you know, the MFSL banner instead of the OMR indicates a source other than the original master tape but the 1/4 inch, 15 IPS source they flat transferred to DSD 256 for mastering and cutting is absolutely outstanding! The record has enormous dynamic range with incredibly quiet passages and extremely loud lead vocals and organ solos on an impeccably quiet background. Very impressed with their new pressing facility and what seems to be Mofi’s new approach to presenting one of their releases as you may have purchased it when it was originally released. You may note that Krieg Wunderlich was assisted by Neal Harris who I assume is a new face on the Mofi staff. Also, this release is much more impressive sonically than the last MFSL release of their debut album No 000348 in the past year. |
Thanks for your detailed response @faustuss . I've seen other positive reviews as well. I will have it soon 😉 |
