You have already a streamer. Use the Gustard, it accepts NAA natively! I had one and upgraded to a R30 and use it as my main streamer, even having a Hifi Rose RS 130 as the latter haS no NAA protocol.
Upgrading from Holo Red, need i2s, external clock input & HQplayer NAA
I am looking to upgrade from my Holo Audio Red. I have been using its i2s output to my Gustard r26. This connection, with a 10 year old AQ Cinnamon HDMI I found in my closet, is far outperforming my $800 Revelation audio Silver Cryo USB cable, in almost every dimension. So sticking with i2s outputs.
Also I’ve been using Roon server core and HQPLayer 6 desktop on Mac Mini M4 to upscale to DSD 512 and I can’t say enough good things. I’d like to retain the HQPlayer NAA ability natively.
The only option I’ve found is the Matrix Audio NT-1. If anyone has any other suggestions or would like to share their experience with their HQPlayer DSD upsampling journey with NAA protocols on their DDC or transports, I’d love to hear them. Or any suggestions for HQPlayer NAA devices for DSD upsampling.

@rbstehno galvanically isolating how? Ethernet to i2s doesn’t sound isolated. You’ve need a glass leg in their somewhere between your wall and streamer/switch, SFP fiber for example out of your modem/router to a switch. Also, the Roon upsampling isn’t the same DSD I’m sorry to say… wait till you hear it done properly, outside of Roons internal DSPs |
@greatdivide71 it helped me to select the ‘48khz DSD’ box enabled in preferences in HQP 6. Also enable the box. ‘Adaptive rate’ and then finally in DSD preferences tab over to the right a few tabs, select max sample /rate as 48 x 512, not 44 x 512 |
@greatdivide71 even at DSD 512 you should be fine! I’m running it seemlessly. Turn off all Roon DSP and volume controls. Enable in advanced settings ‘multi core DSP’ and still in advanced, under ‘blocks per cycle’ enter 6. When I get home from my business trip I’ll take a picture of all the filters and NX and 1x and yadda ya. We’ll get you running smooth |
jbuddha882 - I also have dsd music files, so I know what did sounds like. I have also compared the output to audirvana, and qobuz connect, and this setup so far sounds the best. I don't need any network converters to fiber, been there, done that. The streamers goal is to do this for me. Here are the specs for my streamer, which again, accepts ethernet in, I2S out:"completely eliminates the problems of noise, jitter, and EMI influences through complete galvanic isolation and perfect reclocking of the digital audio signal" |
