Who do you turn to when you have the envies for funk?

Personally, I like to find undiscovered funk. Meaning it may be something that’s very new, very old or in between, but it is music I’ve never heard before and discovered.

And since funk is definitely up my alley, there’s a thread here on audiogon that has some serious funk on it, that you may or may not have heard of before. Stretching out with other worldly and US jazz influenced music.

And this is something I discovered here on the audiogon thread Jazz for aficionados. Grant Green - Let The Music Take Your Mind (1970).

And here is something I plan to listen to later on in the day Quincy Jones with The Brothers Johnson album titled - Mellow Madness 1975. Please enjoy.

I don't know how I missed this, especially when you've already mentioned the Meters, as I was writing my earlier post, on my desk is the massive CD collection of The Meters Anthology - Funkify Your Life.

Funk is everywhere.  Jam bands incorporate it.  Some of the newer groups, aka not 70s

New Mastersounds English quartet.  Plays jazz funk, 

Boombox the Godchau family(grateful dead members kids.

These are well recorded and they have plenty of music to check out.
