Opinions on A/C Noise Meter EMI Testers

Is there a consensus as to the usefulness of these devices?

Thanks!

The Monster device looks interesting, but I'm a bit wary about trusting a testing device that doesn't come with a shielded power cord (or simply runs on DC via battery).

I would suggest that if the noise is not audible, then it isn’t likely to have an affect on sound quality and especially enjoyment of the presentation. If this is the case, why would ‘knowing’ of any noise matter?…

I picked this up awhile ago. https://www.fnirsi.com/products/erd-10

It makes an audible alarm if the electric or magnetic field goes above a threshold. There's an area about 14x4' spanning my couch where the electric field intensity is over 100 V/m. I'm guessing there's something going on with the motor in the recliner.

The electric field intensity is over 400 V/m above, below and behind my power conditioners and the magnetic field intensity is over 40uT. It was on the bottom of the rack and my speaker cables run up through it so I moved it to the top of the rack. If I keep all A/V devices about 1" above or below the power conditioners, the readings are normal under 10V/m.

Aside from that, power cables give off an audible warning of over 100V/m. So there might be something to expensive power cables vs the cheap OEM. Being within 1' from the wall and power lines also give off a warning.

I know if you rub shielded interconnects and speaker cables with unshielded power cables, you can hear a hum.

At the very least it made me more aware of the wall, equipment and cable placement relative to each other.
