Why for the life of me I can’t stay awake when listening to Music?

I really don’t understand how someone can stay all night long listening to music? I read reviewers saying I started listening for hours till 2-3 in the morning. Well, I am 62 yo and as soon as I play music man I feel sleepy. I don’t think that is listening fatigue, it must be the opposite of it. I become so relaxed and my eyes start shutting down lol. Is that normal? Is it my equipments that makes me feel so relaxed or is it my advanced age? Can I do anything different to my system?
I am not sure if this topic came up before and may sound silly but I thought I ask in case someone else on this forum has the same issue.

I used to have opera tickets and often fell asleep. It was an expensive nap, but a very good one. Listening to music during a nap can be marvelous.

After you've checked your health, you might question what you do all day before you listen to music. I'm home all day and listen to music while I work and also in the afternoon. I hardly ever listen past 4 or 5. I've gotten too tired and know my mind isn't up to music. If I get a jolt of energy at night, I might do an hour or so more work listening to music.

However, I would not say that falling asleep while listening to music is the worst thing. I think you get a very restful sleep that way.

If you fall asleep listening to The Firebird Suite its definitely narcolepsy.

On a more serious note, as a clinical psychologist who knows about sleep, I would suggest the OP probably has a sleep deficit, so easily falls asleep in the circumstances described.  Poor quality or quantity of sleep becomes common as we age past 60.  A home sleep eval might reveal the source of the problem and could be ordered by the primary care provider.

I have been notorious for falling asleep, listening to music since my days in college. Of course I think weed had something to do with it. Lol. I work long hours from home, and I usually try to listen to tunes in my dedicated music room later in the evening like 9 o’clock. I regularly fall asleep while listening to music. I think it’s just a matter of being tired and super relaxed from the music. It’s my peaceful, relaxing space after a very tough day. Of course, even though I’m 68, weed still is a factor, lol!  I find that bong hit of good weed is the cheapest improvement in sound quality you can get!

It appears “weed” and “substance” as mentioned in this discussion, can be influencers in more ways than usual.

Particularly useful if a users system is not that good?
