My 3 A.S. favorites are:

UHQR 45 stereo of Axis Bold as Love

UHQR of Elephant

UHQR of Aja

Rickey Lee Jones - Pop Pop - original release on vinyl.

Isley Brothers - Go For Your Guns

John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman

The Acoustic Sounds/QRP recommendations above are all excellent choices.  I have most of them and they are just spectacular.  Regarding Steely Dan, I'll add that the 45rpm issue of Everything Must Go is an absolute knock-out, both musically and sonically.  And also, from the first release of the Pablo Series, any of the Count Basie records, but especially 88 Basie Street.  Turn it up, and then turn it up some more, and the big band comes right into your room.

I see listed above, Patricia Barber.  This latest Barber album in 1-Step from Impex, titled Modern Cool, is stunning.  Probably the quietest vinyl I own, fantastic Barber music, incredible recording.  Depth of stage and imaging is some of the best I own and the sonics are just incredible.  It's Patricia Barber at her best, and the production of this album is absolutely tops.  Available at Elusive Disc and Acoustic Sounds.  You can also read reviews on it that will certainly convince you to make the purchase.  Most highly recommended!
