DAC for WiiM Pro Plus

So many DACs out there.  What is your budget?  What about other equipment?  Any preference for certain type of soundstage?  Some things to consider relative to your purchase.

I’m running three WiiM Pro’s across three systems of different caliber. The biggest bottleneck of WiiM using external DAC is the quality of the digital output. Perhaps it’s jitter and/or mediocre clock imbedded in signal of the WiiM, Despite claims of superior jitter reduction of many high end DAC, I humbly believe that stand alone DDC does much to improve the sound.

i personally feel that Denafrips Hermes and IFI Spdif help extracts the best from WiiM. It did justice in my systems running Berkeley Alpha, Terminator II-12, and PS Audio PerfectWave DirectStream Mkii. 

I’ll second gkelly’s suggestion of the Schiit Bifrost but also suggest the Schiit Mimir with Forkbeard at a much lower cost.  The Forkbeard effectively turns the Mimir into a preamp with volume control and a three band equalizer.

Viva Italia!

I've never been to Palermo, but I did travel to Tuscany. I stayed in a 16th Century monastery in the foot hills overlooking Florence. Just spectacular!

Wonderful view of Il Duomo (Florence Cathedral) and the surrounding countryside. Florence is where the Galleria dell’Accademia is located, and houses Michelangelo's 'David' and Bottecelli's  'Birth of Venus.' In conversation, it's such a privilege to say I've gazed upon them with my own eyes. Eyes that will never be behind a steering wheel in Italy because, well, you know!

I have the same streamer and have it paired with a Geshelli J2S  DAC that’s been modified with Sparkos ss2590 Pro op-amps.  They are the front end driving a PS Audio BHK preamplifier and BHK250 amp, Klipsch Heresy IVs, and a pair of Rel S/510 subs.

In order to get the most out of both devices, I also have them powered by a dual variable linear power supply from Pine Tree Audio. 

It’s a fantastic pairing....authorative, detailed (not clinical), fantastic imaging, wonderful soundstage (wide, deep, and tall), etc.

I can’t emphasize enough how great that pairing sounds for the money.   I’ve been wanting to upgrade the streamer to an Eversolo T8, but have been hesitant because of how good the WiiM ’s software is...honestly, I wish WiiM would come out with a master edition streamer so that I don’t have to leave their ecosystem.
