My new speakers

After owning Monitor Audio PL500 II speakers for 10 years, I’ve purchased my last speakers, YG Acoustics Sonja 3.3s. They are definitely different than my Monitor Audio PL500 II speakers. In my opinion, Monitor Audio PL500 II speakers offer a great value and do many things well. BUT, the Sonja 3.3s are clearer, tonality is improved, more dynamic and instruments/singers are more palpable. I’m not suggesting a night and day difference, but easily discernible differences. Unfortunately, Incremental improvements are very expensive in this hobby. I would say that I’m done, but I’m sure I’m going to change my Chord Dave DAC.

So my friend Joseph brought his Wadax Atlantis DAC to my house last night. In my system/room this is the most analog, non-digital sounding DAC I've heard. I want a chance to hear a MSB and Playback Designs DAC prior to making any decisions on replacing my Chord Dave.

THE SCHIIT YGGDRASIL DAC - Everything I have purchase from SCHIIT has been a "STONE COLD BARGAIN" Unequaled performance vs. price. They also have a return policy. You can't really go wrong.

OP, I bet that Wadax Atlantis DAC sounded great! I look forward to hearing what your choice it.

@axpert

I have to agree that the Schiit Yggdrasil is a good sounding DAC for the money. I have one in my office system. But, maybe you are not aware that the YG Acoustics Sonja 3.3s list for over $150, 000. I think perhaps a higher end DAC might be a more appropriate match.

Those speakers cost more than my first house.  Can you cook on them?  Just kidding.  Congrats and enjoy the ritual of positioning them just right.

Last night I looked at my wife and told her that I'm honestly done purchasing audio. Purchasing new speakers has been a game changer that has brought pure joy when listening to music. Last night was the first time my wife has ever listened to music by herself. A couple of days ago we started dancing while listening to Suavemente by Elvis Crespo. We have listened to music every night since I received the speakers. I've owned many speakers: several Wilson Audio, several Revel, several Klipsch, Mirage M1s, Artemis EOS, and several others. The Sonja's are truly special. They sound great at low volume and when turned up. They are very immersive, open, dynamic, and despite their size, they totally disappear in my room. No speaker is for everyone, but the Sonja's represent the end of my audio journey.
