My new speakers

After owning Monitor Audio PL500 II speakers for 10 years, I’ve purchased my last speakers, YG Acoustics Sonja 3.3s. They are definitely different than my Monitor Audio PL500 II speakers. In my opinion, Monitor Audio PL500 II speakers offer a great value and do many things well. BUT, the Sonja 3.3s are clearer, tonality is improved, more dynamic and instruments/singers are more palpable. I’m not suggesting a night and day difference, but easily discernible differences. Unfortunately, Incremental improvements are very expensive in this hobby. I would say that I’m done, but I’m sure I’m going to change my Chord Dave DAC.

kirkwallace, thank you for your kind words. I believe the book will save you and anyone else who applies the Audiophile Laws a great deal of money by removing guesswork from system building. In the book I discuss SIB (System Improvement Bias), which can keep a person from optimizing the new speakers or component. Follow my advice regarding introducing a new product such as a DAC, and you likely will improve its sound further.

A great many audiophiles are occupied with marginal improvements and do not realize that they have slowed system advancement to a crawl by using the received wisdom of the industry and community. I help people make much more significant improvements in a timely fashion, leading to higher satisfaction.

I have a friend that has owned the PSU for several years. I pick and choose what I'm willing to spend money on for audio. For some reason I’ve never wanted the PSU. The last piece of the puzzle for me has always been speakers. Luis is coming tomorrow to dial everything in, so I may not even consider changing DACs.
