To all Klipsch Heritage fans

Likely going to purchase Klipsch Forte IV. Would opt for Cornwall IV but space may or may not be a factor. If not, then it’s the Corns.

Two part question: if I have to opt for the Forte IV I’ll be happy. Question is: how many folks out there find placing these 1’ or less from the front wall satisfying? I’ve seen a ton of YouTube videos and most people claim they had to pull them out a good 3-4 ft out; however, the majority of those reviewers had bare wood floors, no wonder, the bass must have very boomy. I have thick carpet so I know it will tame it down significantly. I prefer to set them up along the long wall so I have little wiggle room to pull them out; on the other hand, placing them along the short wall will give me 3-4 ft of play from the rear wall.

Question two; The Cornwall IV. I can get these only if I opt for my system and tv along the short wall. What say anyone regarding Klipsch Cornwall vs Crites Speaker CS Style B Cornwalls? I’ve got no problem putting wood veneer on them myself. The Crites crossovers look impressive and higher end than Klipsch (sorry Klipsch, but it does). Thoughts welcome. Cheers and thanks.

Hi guys, I had posted on here for many years. The last year or two I backed off. I recently semi-retired and decided to start my own company. A lot of you know I came from Marcof Electronics since SpeakerCraft out of the St Louis area. I’ve helped many people from audiogon over the last several years. My business is new so there’s not much on there yet, but still some good information.  I posted this specifically because I’ve done a decent amount of work on Klipsch and they can normally be improved quite a bit.

Recently I have been running the Cornwall 4's on the Thomas and Stereo TS120SE tube integrated amp. This has turned out to be a very well-behaved amp. The stock tubes are well matched with the amp as well. It has just enough variations in amp settings to be useful without being intrusive. Still learning about what it does best which apparently is "everything."

If you like the qualities of horn speakers please look at other offerings. In the past, Klipsch represented a decent value but these days they simply dont compete and seem to be riding on the reputation established decades earlier. Klipsch speakers are among the most heavily modified by their owners which I believe speaks volumes. I think that most horn speaker owners often underpower their speakers. I also believe that OTL amps are the best I have heard on horns. Most SET amps used on horns tend to go into a very pleasant "soft clip" pretty early as volume increases. 

What never ceases to amaze me is how militant Klipsch fans get with even the tiniest amount of criticism. Hmmm?

Not to worry Mr D., deep thinks you can "tune" a speaker cabinet to make what the speaker produces "better". In fact, not surprisingly, he thinks that the inert cabinet, mega buck speakers are dull and lifeless. Nothing like "not to my taste", but "crappy".
