@rauliruegas Thanks for the response. I've heard the SC-1250 is a dedicated amp for the SC-8 probably due the dsp and parameters setting. Since I have a separate sub processor, I would assume I can make it work if I get the proper amp rating.
Amplifier for a pair of Velodyne SC-8
I have recently purchased a nice pair of Velodyne SC-8 subwoofers for my system. These are passive subs so I am inquiring in getting an amp for them. What are your recommendations for an amp in the vicinity of 500 per sub? I have an external sub processor I got from Atlantic Technology, SP-8000.

@highend64 It's not only for " probably due the dsp and parameters setting ". The subject is that the SC-1250 is designed to fulfill the woofer/driver characteristics and that only Velodyne it self can do it. No other amp is near the Velodyne 1250 design.

@rauliruegas I see where you are getting at with characteristics that Velodyne is implementing with the sc series models. If is the "sonic" signature that Velodyne have on their sc-1250 amp then is hard to believe unless direct servo is implemented which i doubt it. If is find a parameters for the sub with the sc-1250 then I know is 24db/oct LPF. I think the processor has to do more with that then the amp. Thanks for the information |
@rauliruegas The characteristics you are implying are the parameters of the velodyne drivers itself? The EQ that is implemented in the SC-1250 for this series is to adjust any anomalies in the bandwidth of the woofer response? Right? I can see that approach that Velodyne is doing. It's understandable. |
Dear @highend64 : Please read this link :
Where you can read:
" The matched SC-1250 amplifier can power one or two SC-B subs..."
