If you need a tech to service or restore a vintage amp or receiver...

If you've been looking at older or vintage gear and may be concerned about servicing or repairing it, you might be interested in this person I discovered.
As a Xmas gift to my son, he asked me to find a place that would re-build his vintage Model 173 receiver. It's a very nice sounding 1970's model that was beginning to act up. It took me over a year to find someone willing to do it at a reasonable price. I did a nation wide search and came up empty-handed most of the time. A place in Washington reluctantly quoted a price of $1500 minimum - ridiculous! I originally bought this unit for myself about 8 years ago for $15 on ebay and eventually gave it to my son.

I finally found a guy who agreed to perform a total restoraton for alot less, and my son is very pleased with the result. His name is Todd, and he has a website called timerider.net. He's in California.
His email is [email protected]

Thank you, that is an impressive web site, fun to view even if you don't need anything now.

Can you please share where in California he's located? I'm in L.A. and have a great tech near by, but he's overloaded and the wait times are many months long. George Meyer AV is also in town and I used them once. They were fast and did a fine job, but are very expensive with a labor charge of $150 per hour at the time the work was done over a year ago.

Any reccomendations for such service in the Mid-Atlantic - North-East, surrounding Philadelphia area?
