What is the best sounding vinyl?

I have the original RCA Belafonte at Carnegie Hall and the Returns to Carnegie Hall and the recording quality is superb.  I've heard the Classic Records reissue and that too is good.  The Ella "Clap Hands Here Comes Charlie" is another original that I have that is good sounding, but I like the sound and music from Ella Fitzgerald and Marty Paich and his Orchestra: "Whisper Not" even more.

Another late 1950's stereo recording that is shockingly good sounding is "Satchmo Plays King Oliver."  I don't have the rare original, but, the reissue I have sounds great.  This has a great version of "St. James Infirmary" on it.

There are plenty of good sounding ordinary records, such as:

Michael Jackson: "Thriller"  The sound quality of originals vary quite a bit depending on the particular stamping.  Some people pay a fortune for what are dubbed "hot stampers."

Ry Cooder: "Paradise and Lunch" "Meeting by the River" "Buena Vista Social Club"

Kate and Anna McGarrigle: Self Titled

Pink Floyd: "The Wall" "Wishing You Are Here"

Lou Reed: "Transformer"

Little Feat: "Waiting for Columbus" (great live album)

Sam Cooke: "Live at the Copa"

Paul Simon: "Graceland"

Soundtrack to the movie "Paris Texas"

Kraftwerk: "Electric Cafe"

Thomas Dolby: "Aliens Ate My Buick"

I also have some personal favorites that are a bit more obscure that have really good sound and are sort of undiscovered so they are not that expensive.  These include:

David Peabody "Americana" (English folk artist who loved American folk.  Listen to the track called "Sewing Machine Blues;" this is stunningly well recorded)

Michael Hurley and the Unholy Modal Rounders: "Have Moicy."

echo R.R. some nice Dallas Wind Symphony, Frederick Fennell, “Pomp & Pipes” gotta love that organ in that hall. The Meyerson in Dallas is a great acoustic and quite lovely setting. Also “Crown Imperial” . These are probably niche recordings but with familiarity, 46 years and many at this venue some emotions can be sensed heard?! “TesTaMeNT”   in the final product. 

"Muddy Waters, Folk Singer" on MFSL is one of their best for pure recording quality. Any of the Linn Selekt albums; I have the Carole Kidd album.  

Sheffield Lab is about the best vinyl recording I’ve ever heard.  The original vinyl from the late 70’s is getting harder to find.  A company called Nautilus recorded some very good stuff.  Look for titles “The Three” & L.A. 4 Pavane Pour Une Infante Defunte”  I worked in a HiFi store in the 70’s that sold Direct to Disk & Japanese pressings.  I sold a lot of equipment using Dave Grusin’s Discovered Again recording.
