Upgrade from B&W 802D1 to Focal Utopia Scala Evo

If you had the chance to upgrade from  the B&W 802D1 to the  FOCAL UTOPIA SCALA EVO, which would you choose and why?

OMG. This is unreal.

@onehorsepony

Traded in my B&W 802D1 speakers. I was told that the 1st generation diamond tweeters start to fail around 20 years by becoming harsh sounding. Something about the liquid inside them turning to gel.

Never heard of that before.

I'm going to have to try to sell the Focals on my own, and my PS Audio BHK preamp

What color? I'd be interested.

apparently, those 1st gen tweeters after so many years, start to break down, either total failure, or a hard / harsh sound. This is so true, I loved my 802's for years, then about 3-4 years ago they started to get grating on the upper frequencies. Everyone on all the forums told me that is the B&W sound, and that they are very bright speakers. Now it is starting to make sense to me. But it's too late as I already purchased these Focal speakers

 Everyone on all the forums told me that is the B&W sound,

Don't listen to the other forums. They speak without ownership. Plus reviewers doing measurements don't know how to use them or measure them. I own the D2. It measures fairly neutral. Under factory QC testing, they measure warm, likely toed out. They have headroom and can be whatever you want, bright, neutral and even dark depending on how you toe them.

I'm sure there's no truth to the tweeters breaking down.
