Twisting the Night Away

I have a question and an answer, well at least in the UK.

Our house wiring is solid copper not multistrand, the mains outlet/switches have flow in and out wires, these are simply (for example) put into the socket recepticle and the screw tightened.

I thought about this and realised it is a massive continuity problem as the socket recepticle and the little screw are responsible for current flow at that point and all the way down the line.

So I carefully removed all the sockets & switches etc in the house and pair twisted Lives, Neutrals and Earths. The results are to say the least large, with vastly superior everything and a super clear and much superior Bass response.

What do you guys think about this proposition, it really does work and of course is a dream of an improvement.

Yes, I see what you mean, of course the wrapped wires were re-inserted in the switches.

You know my description reading it your way is quite funny!

Thanks my friend

I live in a 40 year old house in California that although is a tract house it’s of fairly nice construction. Unfortunately although it has copper domestic water supply and copper ( solid ) wire , was finished off with plastic water stops and cheap duplex outlets. Much to my surprise years ago when I replaced my first duplex outlet due to wear , I discovered that the connection to the Romex wire was a simple spring type push connector. I spent many hours changing outlets and the 23 plastic angle stop valves for metal valves and stainless braided supply lines. Even had my special pillow for the job. Question, did you listen to Sir Rod signing “ Twisting the Night Away “ while performing this arduous task ? 😆 Regards , Mike B.

Hey, at my age, I was twisting my Knees away on the floor as I made the change!. Only to find that somebody had included lighting in a 30A circuit. Have not dealt with that yet.

Just as an update, parts of the bus unrelated have boosted so much that I swear I have 50% more light, the extractors work, and the electric shower I have had to turn down. Even the recliners are now silent.
