Stretching out with other worldly and US jazz influenced music

I wanted to start a thread to show there is more than just Avant Garde and or Straight Ahead Jazz music in our world. And there is absolutely nothing wrong at all with Avant Garde and or Straight Ahead Jazz music as I do love that part of US Jazz based culture. But sometimes I want to hear and add more sound spices as it were, from other worldly and US jazz influenced music.

There is so much more other worldly and US jazz influenced music that goes unnoticed and it's time to bring those musics of different sound spices to the forefront to be shared.

Although I have started this thread I am not a or the moderator. Let me repeat I am not a or the moderator. I don't have the time nor energy to police anyone's take on the music they like and want to share. As I will always try and be open to others choices of music.

@stuartk,

In an effort to go through the plethora of music that you and others post here for our eargasm enjoyments, I pleasantly got stuck on and listening to N. H. Ø. P. & Sam Jones Double Bass 1976 track - A Notion, on constant repeat.

Philip Catherine’s guitar strumming hauntly reminds me of Brazilian Bossa Nova but with a Salvador da Bahia slow Samba vibe.

And their bass playing fits right in with that set’s and the other musicians groove.

The drummer Billy Higgins on drums is killing in it with his Samba rhythm, where some may confuse it with a Spanish and not a Brazilian tinge. And his deft playing of the brushes in and on his trap set is masterful. Thanks Stu.

Ok, this is starting to make sense now. As I was writing my previous post, I was listening to N. H. Ø. P. & Sam Jones Double Bass 1976 track A Notion.

And immediately after writing the post and listening to that song, youtube auto-played: A Felicidade - Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen  by Antônio ’Tom’ Carlos Jobim. My ears (and brain) were right.

Check this out: N. H. Ø. P. & Sam Jones Double Bass 1976 track - Little Train by Heitor Villa-Lobos

And this track tickled my fancy too: N. H. Ø. P. & Sam Jones Double Bass 1976 track - I Fall in Love Too Easily  Good stuff.

@tablejockey,

Wow! Nice needle drop! yes You're gonna have to teach me how to post the album photo.

@tyray

There's a few ways to post-from complicated to simple.

I try to use the window keyboard shortcuts when possible

shift key/windows key/S key- that puts your touchpad/mouse in highlight mode to outline a pic. You then "copy"-Cntrl/C & "paste" Cntrl/V

Sometimes it's finicky depending on the source, but works most times.

Your suggestions are much appreciated. Double Bass and The Good Life are both great albums.

I was hearing this on the FM jazz station and liking it:
