JPlay App

I just tried the new JPLAY app that I read about on 6moons. It’s clearly sounds better than Roon in my system. Looks like I’ll be using it from now on. Free 14 day trial, give it a shot.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to let you know that JPLAY 1.4.1 has just been released and is now available on the App Store. This is one of our biggest updates in a while — here's what's new:

- HQPlayer library support — the integration many of you have been asking for. You can now browse and control your HQPlayer library directly from JPLAY.
- New History screen — quickly revisit everything you've played.
- Smart playlists — dynamic playlists created automatically based on filters.
- Filter library items by tags — find what you want, faster.
- Multiselection improvements — manage your library and queues with less friction.
- My Library filters preserved between app launches — no more reconfiguring filters every time you open the app.
- Bug fixes and performance improvements across the app.

Each of the features really deserves more than a single line, so I'll be following up with dedicated posts covering them over the next few days.

As always, thank you to everyone who sent feedback, bug reports, and feature requests — many of the changes in this release came directly from your suggestions. Keep it coming!

Any questions or feedback on 1.4.1, please share in this thread.

Marcin

Thanks @marcin_gps

updated but haven’t tried all the new features. History looks cool.
I’d like to configure Minimserver next to set up my local library and will take a shot at it in the next few days.

Continuing the JPLAY 1.4.1 deep dive series —  the new History screen.

What it shows:

- Everything you've played, organized by day — your full listening journey at a glance.

- A calendar view that highlights your listening activity — days with longer listening sessions appear as brighter dots in the calendar grid, so you can instantly spot your most musical days and jump back into them.

- Per-day track lists, so you can see exactly what you listened to and when.

How to access it:

- From the side menu → History

- Or via the new "Recent Listening" widget on the Home screen for one-tap access

Continuing the deep dive series on the latest JPLAY release — today: Smart Playlists.

Don't have a specific playlist in mind, or simply don't feel like building one yourself? Smart Playlists do the work for you.

Smart Playlists are dynamic playlists created automatically based on filters you define — by library, genre, audio quality, year, and more. They automate playlist creation around your own criteria and stay current as your library grows.

How it works:

- Set the filters (Focus) — the playlist populates automatically with all matching tracks from your Library.
- The content of the Smart Playlist updates dynamically whenever new tracks match your criteria.
- You can change the filters (Focus) anytime from the Smart Playlist details screen.
- Note: tracks cannot be added manually to Smart Playlists.

How to create a Smart Playlist in JPLAY:

Open the side menu → My Library → Tracks → select your filters in Focus → tap the Smart Playlist icon (first icon on the left).

Update to the latest JPLAY from the App Store and try it out.
