Earth Day, turn those amps OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Earth Day, turn those amps OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've said it before, I'll say it again, it is Environmentally IRRESPONSIBLE to leave your equipment on for long periods of time, before or after, or truly despicable, ON all the time!

On, 20 mins, listen, done, off!

Doctors, Lawyers, Trust Fund Kiddos, come on now.

Where were you in 1970?, I was there in Manhattan (went to college at Pratt in Brooklyn 1966-1970)

I leave my electric toothbrush, hairdryer and toaster oven on 24/7.  I want ALL my devices to be ready at a moment's notice and operating at peak performance.

I catch my wife, now and then, shutting down the toaster oven.  Mentions "safety concerns". Go figure.  Maybe it's time to upgrade her and the toaster oven?

Also, even when listening to mono, I turn on all the "toys" and consume massive amounts of energy from all 9-channels for a glorius, engulfing surround sound experience (with 4 active subs).  Listen in thet dark?  Heck no.  Got a full array of commercial grade 600w metal halide lamps in the ceiling to create the atmosphere of a sunny day on the bench in my listening room.  To save energy, I only use a bank of electric space heaters on cloudy days.

Pam was my singing teacher. I went for a lesson on the day after she died not knowing what had happened. I was ringing her bell and calling her name outside her condo when a neighbor came out to tell me what happened. I nearly fainted. A great tragedy.

i graduated from Amherst about a decade ahead of pam and you and Hampshire College’s existence.

  • stop eating beef and meat in general
  • stop driving trucks and SUVs
  • stop using the AC all the time
  • stop wasting water
  • stop buying new and "Fiji water" when used and local will do
  • ...etc.

Otherwise you are a big problem

@elliottbnewcombjr , Thank you for the clarification, I suffer from being too serious and must constantly be reminded of “ Rule 62 “. Being in a less serious state of mind I usually default to “ Despicable Me “ and the first thing that comes to mind is a Minion saying BANANA . 😆  @hilde45 , interesting equation regarding air travel. I pulled up my solar app and last year my system prevented 10.3 tons of CO2 from being released. FWIT my son in law is a Navy jet pilot instructor and he flys 4-5 days per week. I can only imagine what the Artemis rocket produced when it punched that massive hole in the atmosphere.

@parkergetdean - those are all wise suggestions:

I long for the day when there is real cloned "artificial meat" without raising and killing animals.

I don't drive at all. I haven't even been on an airplane since 2020.

I live in San Francisco, and with our weather, not many people have A/C if they have windows that open. We use heat a lot during our summers, though!

Our tap water tastes great and that is just about the only thing I drink.

And I turn off my gear when not in use (except for my DAC).

Tiny carbon footprint, me...
