Do you buy used carts/needles? Is it risky?

I am new  to the turntable hobby and I have a Techniqs 1200g. Curious... does anyone ever buy used needles/carts like Hana SL MKII, for example? Is it risky? I don't want to mess up my albums but I also would like to save some money since I don't listen to vinyls everyday.

About used suspension material:

old, brittle, soft, pliable, it is something to think about.

Steve Leung at VAS looked at me and said "it’s amazing how these Audio Technica’s suspensions hold up" I agree.

My several old Shures, the one Sumico, the one JVC Victor all have held up. Being close to VAS, I took a small batch of mine, Ray inspected, and cleaned into the recesses of the suspension.

One of mine had miniscule metal particles down in there, and I realized: I had it in my shop, I have carpet tiles glued on the workbench, and even though I always brush it clean, tiny metal specks are down in the carpet, and it's ..... magnetic!

If I didn’t already have one, I’d be interested in this, 1 day left

comes with an AT headshell with both overhang and azimuth adjustment.

Steve can re-build it when needed.

their buyout (only some), you can sort by them, is like 'buy it now' on ebay, click, you got it for that price, so I sometimes sort by time, then scroll down to see the ones with a buyout price.

AT150E, buyout $51. (no headshell)

I personally would not plan on the stylus being good. I would plan on putting a currently available new VMNx Stylus (3 choices, all boron) on this body.

I have a 150e body with a vintage 160ml beryllium/microline stylus, sounds as good to me and my friends as my 160ml body with the same AT160ML stylus
