If I may pose a side question to others without hijacking the thread please. Of those that have Townshend products on carpet, have you tried spikes under the pods ? I realize the Giaia’s and the Auva’s offer complimenting spikes and I have extra thick shag and padding ? Also any sort of slab or wood flat on the carpet is totally out of the question due to moisture concerns. Regards , Mike B.

@buellrider97 , I have not considered spikes under the platforms but it's an interesting question. I have carpet sliders on the podium feet that allow me to reposition the speakers by myself. I don't remember asking John at Townshend about spikes but would be insightful to get his opinion. Thanks for the comments on my room, certainly have some compromises for SQ but I like to watch a lot of sports on cc while I listen to music, usually with too much wine! I actually dug up the concrete floor to run two cable tracks to allow for the roughly 10M run from the electronics. We do a lot of entertaining and it's a great space for fun when everyone gets to make up their favorite playlist! |
RONBOCO, sorry I was preoccupied for a couple of days. I currently have Tidal Akiras that should be my end game speakers. My wife scoffs when I say it, but I think it's true. The Tidals resolve at a much higher level than the Rockport Cygnus, which is not to condem the brand, but more the characteristics of that model. After my debacle of buying brand new Wilson Sasha 2s the Cygnus was a great pathway back to "fun to listen to and engaging sound". The Akira's have caused me to upgrade almost every aspect of my system as they reveal so much of their electrnic diet. They are 350 pounds and are on 80 pound stainless steel outrigger arms, so I'm thinking of going with the South Korean company's HIFI STAY triple swing spikes to decouple them from the floor. I am a flawed audiophile as I want my gear to look cool, and while the Townshend bases made the older style Cygnus look better, I am loath to discard 160 pounds of super polished stainless steel outrigger arms. I'm finacially exhuasted so decoupling has to wait. |
