buying vinyl from abroad

I am trying to buy an album from Europe via ebay. It comes with a warning sign before checkout:

Due to US customs policies, the buyer of this item will need to pay import fees to the shipping carrier prior to delivery.

Has anyone been through this, what is the process? Does customs sit on the merchandise for days, weeks? I know other countries tend to charge ridiculous amounts and hold the item hostage for months potentially.

that sounds good @richardbrand it sounds like Australia has everything (almost). I know the glass is always half empty

have bought 5000-6000 records from europe over the years. win some lose some packaging-wise. brexit made uk shipping higher. tariffs rarely affect records but if they do, you just get an email and gave to pay with you card before it’s delivered or sometimes they’ll just deliver and bill you if you have an existing account (UPS, FedEx, DHL).

"While I might whinge about the inaccessibility of classical vinyl, there are plenty of shops selling new popular records."

Are they bootlegs or aboriginals?

There's a dealer in Great Britain, great prices, never had a problem. But now with the tariff ,I don't know...But yes Germany,Italy, Israel...no problems  but you could have them from.the seller in the next town from you.
