@tyray you are insightful! You are correct about the elements in the room although the 4 box ceiling clouds and the Quadratic Residue Diffuser you see are actually 3D renderings of what I'm going to do. I wasn't sure about the size or the colors available so I incorporated them in a rendering. And I'm glad I did because the larger 32x64 clouds were too imposing and white didn't give that intimacy I'm striving for. But the fire wood and the stacked 250 yr old beams that divide the music room from my home gym do provide diffusion. It's now just a matter of time before I order these box clouds.
Jazz for aficionados
I'm going to review records in my collection, and you'll be able to decide if they're worthy of your collection. These records are what I consider "must haves" for any jazz aficionado, and would be found in their collections. I wont review any record that's not on CD, nor will I review any record if the CD is markedly inferior. Fortunately, I only found 1 case where the CD was markedly inferior to the record.
Our first album is "Moanin" by Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers. We have Lee Morgan , trumpet; Benney Golson, tenor sax; Bobby Timmons, piano; Jymie merrit, bass; Art Blakey, drums.
The title tune "Moanin" is by Bobby Timmons, it conveys the emotion of the title like no other tune I've ever heard, even better than any words could ever convey. This music pictures a person whose down to his last nickel, and all he can do is "moan".
"Along Came Betty" is a tune by Benny Golson, it reminds me of a Betty I once knew. She was gorgeous with a jazzy personality, and she moved smooth and easy, just like this tune. Somebody find me a time machine! Maybe you knew a Betty.
While the rest of the music is just fine, those are my favorite tunes. Why don't you share your, "must have" jazz albums with us.
Enjoy the music.

@rok2id yes Sketches of Spain' by Miles Davis! Thanks for reminding me |
@tyray geez it's pretty embarrassing but as far as interconnects go I'm currently using a boutique brand ConneX The NATURAL ONE Balanced XLR Interconnects but I placed an order for Signature SE Silver XLR Interconnects by audiosensibility.com as they offer a 30 day return policy, but I heard them and they are fantastic and beautiful. My USB is Anzus X2. I recently tried an Audience FrontRow USB but the Innuos Pulsar and Accuphase DC-37 literally comes to life with the Ansuz! I also replaced the Innuos factory cord with a custom FURUTECH DPS-4.1 (OCC-DUC) 11AWG Power Cable and Furutech AC FI-50-NCF(R) IEC Female and Furutech AC FI-50M-NCF(R) Plug Male. The Innuos Pulsar literally woke up!!! I'll probably look into spkr cables also by audiosensibility.com * it's crazy how both the Ansuz X2 USB and the Furutech custom power cord bring live to the system. I'm hearing micro detail, clarity and authority like never before. |
Ain’t nothing wrong with anything Parts Connexion. That’s where I got my first custom built Duelund Dual (Double) Phono 12GA Wire Interconnects w/KLEI Absolute Harmony RCA Plugs, Duelund Dual (Double) 12GA Wire Interconnects w/KLEI Absolute Harmony RCA Plugs and Duelund Dual (Double) 12GA Speaker Wire in my early upgrade from ’stock’ years from Chris. Alas, the tariffs have had an adverse effect with us yanks down here. And since Parts Connexion's is in Canada, we know it wasn't their fault. Those FURUTECH DPS-4.1 (OCC-DUC) 11AWG Power Cable and Furutech AC with the custom FI-50-NCF(R) IEC Female and Furutech AC FI-50M-NCF(R) Plug Male are excellent and don’t cost an arm and a leg.
