high quality built units, often for hifi applications -- like ether regens, sonore optical units, using linear power supplies and better fmc modules like those by finisar all make a meaningful sonic difference in my experience
Ethet net to fiber optic to feed your streamer
I'm using a TP link Deco wireless mesh system to feed my streamer. I wanted to add a Fiber Optic Cable Cord section to hopefully clean up any "hash" caused by my mesh system.
I was inspired by "Gabby" from youtube - https://youtu.be/ybtRqJt8Vo8?si=6kKCOU_W7iuS_Gaj
I was thinking about getting two Fiber to Ethernet Media Converters but have also looked at the Sonore opticalModule Deluxe. I know this is a pretty niche subject and there are probably not many people who have these devises, but if anyone does, I'd love to hear your experience and thought.
Thanks - Stan

Thanks for the feedback! My home is made motly of three foot thick walls of cement. Routing cable is impractical and wifi gets very sketchy by all the rebar. I think I’ll try the ethernet media converter first and if it works well move up to the I’m using the Ultrarendu by Sonore and it is fantastic.

I can recommend the LHY FMC. Reasonably priced and does a great job. You can get excellent Fiber optic cable and SFP modules from Finisar. They are industry standard and great pricing. I run my setup into a hifi rose rs130 it has fibre module capabilities. Very clean. All told the Ethernet cable, Fibre cable the 2 Sfp modules and LHY FMC was around 600 bucks Cheap way to give it a go |
I have exactly your mesh system but my audio connections are hardwired to my base router unit. I do also have a secondary system with the streamer hardwired to one of the router mesh satellites. Small Green Computer (link) can economically set you up for fiber isolation, starting with their switch that has a fiber output and then, at your streamer/dAC end, their opticalModule deluxe with their 7V linear power supply. If you wish, you can add a 5V LPS to the switch. I use all of those and have had very good luck with SGC for my digital audio needs. |
I use the ADOT ONI 100 (Optical Network Isolator). These are designed and manufactured by the Melco/Dela distributor in the UK. Elegant and simple - ethernet cable from your router / ethernet output to your system or your audio network switch for your audio system. Have a good look at the KECES eWave network switch. These two items together solve so many issues for your system. |
