New Type of DAC

Waiting to get my D-1 this week. Will post pictures and thoughts. I went ahead and got the balanced headphone connection and Subwoofer Breakout Box to go with it. I'm most curious how the voltage calibration will work with my Technics SU-R1000. I've always loved to black background of the R1000 and with the amazing specs of the D-1 wonder if I can create a black hole of silence.

Have a listen to that Cen Grand Deluxe if you can. I keep hearing great things about it, but still a very under the radar brand that seems intriguing. Soulnote seems like a killer deal for the price. Especially compared to the other big Japanese brands (Accuphase, Esoteric, Luxman). 

I heard the D1 at a Florida audio show recently held in Tampa. The D1 was paired with the HiFi Ross streamer (RS130?), Pass Lab XP-12, and First Watt SIT-5 monoblocks. I always give the benefit of the doubt to hotel room acoustics, but unfortunately, the system did not impress me but it might be the room, setup and several other factors like synergy.
