@knock1 which amp are you referring to? L3
Magnepan LRS+ and WiiM Amp
I currently run my Qualio IQ (89 dB, 4 Ohm) speakers with a WiiM Amp both for music and it is also connected to the TV via HDMI. The WiiM amp runs them very well. Recently listened to the Magnepan LRS+ at a friend's house and was really surprised witht the clarity of sound. Since then have been thinking of getting a pair. The only place I think where I can keep the Magnepans is in the TV room to provide space both sides and I am limited to using the WiiM Amp due to the HDMI feature. Looking for advice/experience on pairing the LRS+ with the WiiM Amp.
thanks
Manu

@dxbwineguy That Luxman amp will not work the well with the LRS+. Your bass will likely be wobblily and other issues. I tried 2 Schiit Aegir v1 monos on the LRS+ and it was terrible. Those 2 amps were 80 watts of Class A.

@yyzsantabarbara I didn’t buy for the LRS+. I just bought because saw a video somewhere over the weekend and then read an article by Howard Kneller on PS Audio. Looks smashing. Am based in Dubai. RIght now not the best of times of here. So bought it (and the LRS+) as a cheer me up. Found it on ebay in Italy for EUR200. Thought that was a decent price to pay with eBay guarantees. Will reach me in about 3 weeks. Got a great deal on the LRS+ also. Brand new, from the official dealer here in Dubai. Less than the listed price on Magnepan’s website of $1295. |
@jjss49 +1- 100% correct Also, everyone suggesting the biggest amps is b.s. I had 300 wpc emotiva amp with maggie 1.7s. Put on a 35 yr old NAD class AB 100 wpc and they sounded SO much better. The quality of the amp matters more than wpc. I ended up buying Van Alstine monos for them which were great. The Coda suggestions are solid. I'd like to try them with benchmark and bryston amps. |
